This is also something that I am thinking about as we are taking delivery of our new boat in 2-3 weeks. I have heard so many different opinions on this topic. I have even heard from mulitple dealers to use it like you normally would from day 1, just dont hold it on the same rmp for lengths of time and that using the perfect pass will be fine because it will vary rpm's. That same dealer said they load down brand new boats (x-stars, G23's, Malibu's) for wakeboarding and surfing to show their potential for client demo's and you know they dont have 20+ hours on them yet.

Ive always been the type to go by the book, but it will be very hard not to immediately load down the A22 and start riding from day 1. But like everyone else has agreed on, better safe than sorry. Day 1 (4-8 hrs) will consist of lots of crusing around at high, medium, and low rpm's.

After 5 hours I started using only hard tanks. Vary throttle during first 5 hours and I changed the oil after about 10 hours.

If you want the warranty .... follow by the book. Remember EVERYTHING is recorded in the computer.
Say you didn't follow it and it messes up ... they pull the logs and just be an excuse not to cover it.

Haha. That means my dealer voided the warranty on the test drive. I doubt it will void the warranty breaking it in the way you want.

^Good point. Plus, demo boats are sold with full warranties and we all know those boats get loaded down

Exactly! I personally know someone who demoed a Mastercraft that had 1 hour on it. When they took it out he wanted to see the surf wake potential. They loaded that thing down for him. Again, 1 hour and a loaded down boat. So many different opinions and takes on this topic. I guess the takeaway is use your head and do what makes you feel comfortable.

I saw a brand new S.A. 450 and Moomba LSV used at a tournament stop last year both were ran hard for two days with full ballast. That said I did my break in by the book last year it was a chill two days of cruising the lake with the wife.

All that is being written here is exactly why I would personally avoid buying a demo boat. Just because the demos get used that way doesn't mean it's what's best for the longevity of the engine.

I saw the same thing that SDUKES saw.
That being said. I did mine exactly how my dealer said to and how the book says.

NO tanks for first 10 hours.
Vary boat speed during break in.
Full service before 20 hours.
This info is also available in the Indmar Operators Manual.

Better safe than sorry. I knew that I would have plenty of time to load it up after the break in.

I have video of my boat being hammered by the test driver at Malibu! He never let off of WFO! I still followed indmars break in procedure just to be on the safe side.
