Ok, trailered the boat for 20miles the other day. A ton of bugs littered my bright white tower. Any ideas to keep bugs off? I don't want to spend anytime cleaning bugs off the tower at the lake. I was thinking of applying painters tape to the tower before trailering and removing at the lake. Seems like it would be fast. just worried that in a rain storm the tape would be nearly impossible to remove in tiny little pieces once it got wet. Maybe Saran Wrap. Any ideas?

welcome to my hell....currently talking to a local canvas shop to have a custom wrap made to go over the top of the tower/tower speakers so I dont have nearly as many bugs to clean of after every trip to the lake this year.

Lol, I think this is a first post for guys with white towers. I love the look but the texture on the Axis tower is not good for white towers and bugs. Saran Wrap is the easiest way to do it. Quick and easy and doesn't look near as bad as painters tape. You could probably get some bulk clear wrap that moving or warehouse packaging companies use. I guess you'll have to add to the boat monthly budget: Saran Wrap $25

Is it OK to tow with the tower down if I build so sort of supporting structure? I have the white tower too and will be towing it a ton to the cabin lake and there are A LOT of bugs on the roads to the cabin. The textured finish seems like it will be a nightmare to keep clean.

I tow everywhere with my tower down, just get a couple of throw cushions and rest it on the center seat, unless it's an A20 then you will need to make a support to hold it above the rear seat back

Armor all wipes work good at cleaning water spots off the powder coat but I'm not sure how they would do on bugs

I'm scared as well....600 miles trip each way coming in July and it's through Arizona! I am thinking about somehow doing tower down with the cover on.

In another similar thread someone told me to check with my dealer because the boats ship to the dealers with a support for the tower to rest on when down during tow. I have not checked with my dealer yet but its wroth a shot to see if they have one around.

If you tow with tower down and cover on, be careful of the place where the cover touches the tower joints. Over a short distance I'm sure you are fine, but on a long haul it might wear right through the cover. Something like that happened to me on my previous boat and cover

That was me. All boat manufacturers ship with some kind of support for the tower. I will take a pic of the axis one tomorrow. It would be pretty easy to build one. For you guys towing long distance, I have talked to a number of guys who Saran Wrap their tower and the bow of the boat. Seems to work well.
Like Ferral said, be careful with the cover on metal joints and even the windshield

Yeah. They definitely ship with a support for the tower. Let Idaho see if he can get a pic for you. I would not trailer with the cover on. Too many things can go wrong with this including it rubbing and messing up your gel coat. I have been advised to never tow with cover on.
