Hey, just a little vid to show people how great the wake could be without that trashy swim plate ... Can't believe axis engineers let that go on the market.

This boat has a big surf wake potential without the plate ...

The wake was bigger on driver's side !

Honestly I could care less about a surf wave - I like the huge platform for my toddler and his buddies to play on and it does nothing to the wakeboard wake!

For people that do care - Rumor is there is a "surf friendly" platform coming out.

It is not a rumor, there's a new platform coming for the 2012 models. I spoke with Matt Bishop from axis but he also told me that the new plate won't make a huge difference on the surf wake, clean out a bit but not much ...

The boat was weighted this way : center full, front full, rear left side ballast and 450 fat sac full, 2 guys in the boat on rider's side.

I have a buddy that surfs a lot in his newer bu 23 lsv. The lip underneath that swim step also disrupts the wave. His solution was first to buy a tiny teak deck (he hated that) so he fiber glassed the entire bottom of the original step so that the step is smooth underneath. He claims this cleaned up the face of the wave a lot.

Here's the new platform. The corners are cut in and the bottom of the platform is filled in and smoothed to shape the wake.

I've got one on my 2011, so does phil aslinger, as you can see. It does make the wave a bit cleaner.

Chatt, was that last picture at the Landing last weekend? Had hoped to go down there, but wasn't able to.
