I had this set left over from my Supra, but couldn't find too many unloaded pods/cans with the required 2 7/8" clamp size. Those I did find, were close to 300 a pair, and I wanted to keep the finish as close to the tower finish/color as possible.

I ordered some diywake cans for 169 per pair and decided to have them coated in line-x. Yes- this is the same stuff they use on trailers, truckbed liners, etc.
The hlcd horns dropped right in. For the coax, the mounting flange had to be widened by 1/8".

Looks really good! If you don't mind me asking, how much was it to get them coated?

I paid 160. I had quotes from other shops at 60-70 for all 4. I went with line-x because I know nothing about truck liner. I was in a hurry to get them on and done. Had it been December, I would have tried something like 'hercules' liner from Northern tool or OReilly.

I do like that I won't have to clean water spots, etc off them- just the occasional bug or two from towing.

How do you like those kickers? Thinking about upgrading mine and came across those and like what I see. Your pictures didn't come up so I could see, are you running the 6 pack or just the horn tweeters and 2 6.5?

I was running the standard 4. They're good- but I recently upgraded to rev10's and a rev410 in the middle. the kickers are very loud and painful to listen to up close with volume cranking. They'll get the sound out to the rider, but knowing what I know now- I'd go with my current setup or listen to nvs or exile (xm9's).

I haven't heard one tower speaker in the 6 1/2-7" cone size that sounds good at 65'+ and surf distances. That's why I went with the rev series from wetsounds. I haven't heard the xm9's from exile, but have heard the sxt and xm7 series. If cost was a limiting factor for me, I'd go a pair of wetsounds 485 or a single set of rev8 or rev10's. Best advice I can give you is to find a dealer for both and have a listen for yourself. The kickers for the price are great, but there are other options out there and it all depends on what you're looking for...

I agree with Nasty if you are going too upgrade go listen to a few didn't speakers. Also ask your self if you want surf music or back to wake board distance. I personally haveExile xm9s and they rock at wake board distance. Will be adding another pair next year
