Trying to start buying the odds and ends for my boat (bumpers, rope, anchor, tools...)I think I'm sold on a small box anchor and will be picking one of those up. I will be towing my boat to a lot of different spots so I was thinking I need some hull huggers/fenders to help keep boat looking new when docking.

What does everyone keep on there boats? Any must have gadgets or handy items?

Exile bumper balls...NOT regular boat fenders (or Hippity Hops from Toys R Us work amazingly), I'm a fan of bungee dock lines, first aid kit, tool kit, jumper cables, zip ties, electrical tape, scuba mask and floating knife to cut any rope that might get tangled in the prop, small box anchor plus a second anchor to keep boat from swaying if needed, tow rope, and...you might laugh but...keep a couple bread twisty ties because sooner or later a girl will have her bikini hook/clasp break and those work well. BOTTLE OPENER. That should get you started.

I picked up 4 Exile bumper balls. Those things are awesome. On my last boat, I got tired of the crappy 6" diameter bumpers not holding up at the tie up. Bottle Opener? That is what the back of the mirror bracket is for. I definitely agree with all the rest of the stuff. Some items my gf ensures is always on the boat are trash bags, koozies, and towels.

I'm also looking for an anchor - Where is the best place to get that box anchor?

places to find a box anchor... try Craigslist... otherwise all the other places seem to be the same price.

The only other thing I can add to AJ's list is an extra impeller. I've been stranded twice in dec and jan on my buddies boat because the impeller went out. We had a sail boat (the only boat on the water) tow us in few years ago... haha.

I have been searching for deals on the box anchor but most are $150 plus or minus $10. Best deals seem to be the places that have cheap or free shipping.

Got mine on Craigslist for $100 shipped. In light winds the small box anchor can hold 3 wakeboats all day as long as you use a 2:1 scope (length 2x depth)

Ditto on the scuba mask and floating knife. Had a cheap anchor that is now on the bottom of the lake due to driver error. Found myself going under to unwind rope from around the prop. A mask and knife would have been great to have. (Buying tomorrow).
First Aid kit when you cut your hand on the prop trying to unwind a rope that you accidentally ran over by not pulling up your anchor. FML.
Looking for deals on a small box anchor and a couple of Exile bouy balls.

Haha. You definitely learn quickly to put a mask on the boat after your first run in with a rope around the prop. I have had two run-ins with the rope around the prop and my buddy has had one. The mask is a must have in my opinion.

Great advice-thanks guys. Off to buy a mask and floating knife today. Any leads on exile balls around Temple TX? Was contemplating buying the small box anchor and shore spike from the manufacturer-not finding much on Craigslist right now, nor Amazon. Far as tools...just got a couple screw drivers and a vise grip-any recommendations on others to add? For bungee lines, what length do you recommend?

thanks-new guy here!
