Anybody else on here running at high altitude? Our normal lake is 3500' but we sometimes go up to 5000'. Dealer is willing to let me try whatever prop he has in stock but highly recommends the acme 2079. We will be running Ronix 500 or 800 in the lockers and FH 950 + another 700 up in the bow (for surfing). Just wondering if anyone has experience with this? I see all the prop discussions but don't see anything about altitude. Thanks

I wonder what HP loss (or inefficiency) your motor is going have at med-high altitude boating. Did you get the LS3? The 2079 was tried by a couple Axis owners last year or so and it seemed to do well loaded with ballast

I wish. We went with the 330 based on dealer recommendation. Most people up here are running it. I think we experience 10 to 15% loss. At least that's what it was with dirt bikes when I used to ride. Our 23v had the 315 merc and was ok at 3000' but when we hit 5000' it struggled with weight.

I am normally at a lake that is 4,489'. But at times I go up a higher altitude of 6,165'. I have the high altitude prop (so the dealer says). I have #400 PNP in each locker and PNP arrow up front. With wedge down, stock and PNP filled up, I cannot plane at either place. 3/4 full I can at least in lower lake. I have the 330.

Add more weight to the bow....or pull the wedge up.

If they like the wake with the wedge then that's a huge sacrifice to just pull the wedge up since us Axis owners don't have the hydraulic wedge. I personally don't like the A22 wake without the wedge.

What's surprising to me at even moderate altitude, Scotifer said he could not plane with the 330 motor with only 400's, bow sack, and wedge. At 600' above sea level I can plane with 750's, bow sack, and wedge (with rider, driver, one passenger) with the AR 335 motor.

Scotifer, I talked to my dealer today. He is a buddy and I trust his recommendations. I would look at which prop you have. Axis lists the high altitude prop as the ACME 1235. My dealer has tested numerous ACME props with a loaded down A22. He has found that the ACME 2079 is by far the best prop for altitude and weight. They run their A22 with stock ballast and 750s in the rear. 950 under the bow and 750 on top of the bow. They usually have 4 to 8 people in the boat and rarely ever run with the wedge down. They have tested the 1235 and 2315 as well as the 2079. The 1235 wouldn't plain with the weight and the 2315 would but it was very slow to. The 2079 not only plains with the weight but will do so with the wedge as well. Very good holeshot and decent GPH. The downside is loss of top speed. I guess we can't have it all with the stock motor. :D

I was in the same boat, mine wouldn't plane out with 400's in the back and wedge at 2200' with 600-700 pounds of people weight behind the windshield and HA 1235 prop, I had to drain some out of the rear to get up, put on a different prop and it does it fine now with ease. I won't mention my prop since it's not being made anymore but one of the 15" ones listed should do the trick for you guys.

I didn't have anyone in the bow or any other weight besides the stock tank and pnp sack under the seat when it wouldn't plane, had I moved 300-400 to the front it may have done it with the 1235 but I didn't think to try it at the time.
