2009 chevy silverado z71 with a 5.3L vortec. It pulls the boat great but the gas mileage suffers a lot with my lead foot.

My tow rig is a 05 Chevy 2500 duramax. I know it is there but does not slow me down any.

2013 F150 FX4 Ecoboost. LOVE this truck - pulls effortlessly with all torque available by 2500 rpms. I added a tune and it got even better - significant increase in power and another 2 mpg. I can't say enough good about where it makes its power and how it pulls.

I don't understand American trucks at all.... WHy so big and thirsty?
For example, out workshop truck here is a Volkswagen Amarok Pickup. It has a 2.0 Litre Twin Turbo Diesel Motor with under 200hp and under 300ft lbs torque. Pulls everything we have here just fine (18-24ft boats). On monday I towed a 22ft Nautique over 500 Miles with no problems. Averaged around 25mpg. With an A20 on the back I'll get around 26-28.
I understand we have slightly higher quality fuel here but that's can't be everything?

08 cummins 4x4 with the 6.7 in it. I took off all the blue tech, straight piped it and programmed it, and went from 15 mph to 21-22. I tow my 28' fifth wheel and boat at the same time sometimes and it pulls fine. With just my A22 back there, you can't tell it's even there. I'm not sure what the gas trucks are getting now a days, but I used to get around 12 it seems. If I had to do it again, I'd get an 06-07.5 5.9L cummins. 3/4 ton is plenty truck for lost people just towing a boat.
