I know we have a show your rigs thread, and I have gotten a pretty good idea of what people are pulling with there, but wanted a more staight to the point Tow Vehicle thread.

I currently pull my A22 with a 99 2 door tahoe 5.7L. However, on the interstate, my truck is not happy pulling that load. I also have 35" tires. I belive a regear is in order if I plan to keep.

Looking at upgrading to a Chevy with 5.3 or Ford with 5.4.

Just wanted to know what everyone is towing with and how well it does?

2011 Dodge 2500 5.7 liter hemi. I have three other work trailer i tow with it as well. None are over 11,000 lbs fully loaded. It pulls it pretty good. 12 g for a cummins and trans wasn't in the books, not to mention the price of diesel is terrible now. It hauls the boat great as far as I'm concerned. Uphill you can hear it working but nothing serious

2010 Nissan Titan 5.6L w/ the bigger gear package (3.36 I believe?) I haven't towed the Axis yet but it did pretty well towing our Tige 23V. Tige is just over 7000lbs with trailer, full fuel tank and gear. It does struggle in the mountains but we have steep inclines. Should do a lot better towing the A22. My next truck will be a F150 Ecoboost or the new Titan with the 5.0L Cummins (after they work out the bugs)

Dodge 2500 Mega Cab with 5.9L Cummins 2WD. Can't feel the boat and gets good mileage towing 75mph on the interstate.

I have had two GMs, both with the 5.3L. One with the 3.73 rear end, one with the 3.42. HUGE difference in towing ability. The 3.73 was decent up to 7000lbs but then really struggled and ran high rpms. The 3.42 might as well have been a car. Anything over 5000lbs was a joke.

I also had a 2005 F150 w/ 5.4L and 3.73 gears. It had a much better suspension for towing, compared to the 1/2 ton chevys. Towed very nicely but 2004 - 2007 had some serious issues with fuel injectors.

2013 Ford EcoBoost 4x4 3.73 gears. Pulls like a champ. Best you'll get next to a diesel. 8-9mph pulling.

What kind of MPG are you getting pulling your A22? Not the readout on the dash but calculated? Avg speed?

Lots of Ecoboost owners are disappointed in the manufacturer claimed mileage vs actual mileage towing and not towing...especially when considered the cost of an Ecoboost.
