I was unfortunate enough to have the sumo's with the bad fittings. It sucked! No other way to put it. My bags were ordered through my dealer who is a sumo distributor. Sumo has now agreed to refund my money and I will be using fly highs.

Go for the Sumo 9's and you can get them for fairly good price too from a few different spots.

You probably know this but..... If you go with flyhighs from boardstop use code 'forumuser' for discount....

What engine and prop did you get with your 2014 A22?

You will have some planing issues if you go full rear sacks (600lbs or more) and wedge with that prop. In addition to your bow sack you'll always want to run an extra bow sack or lead when you run heavy in the rear of any Axis model. It helps with planing and really firms and beefs up the wake.

I agree with DTB^^ Go with sumo. The 600's will be same capacity as the FH 750's but fit in the lockers perfectly, the 750's do not fit really well. If you want more, go with sumo 900's. the reason is they are better bags, match up perfectly with your high flow 1" I.D. hoses and pumps due to 1" I.D. ports, and it has a great manual fill valve / burp valve. Plus the fittings/ports are in better locations than on the Fly High. I do not believe you have to reinforce the dividers on the sumo 900's, but everyone seems to be reinforcing with the FH 1100s. I have no experience with ronix, but there is a wakeworld thread about actual capacities of SL, Sumo's and Ronix, I believe the ronix and more sumo's will be tested this week.

There was a run of Straightline Sumo bags last year that had the fittings popping out, but that has been fixed now from what I understand (or just do what DTB did and glue them, easy fix).

For the record, I have fly high 750's in my A22 and the Sumo bow sack. The sumo bow sack is way better than the fly high one. And I tested the Sumo 600 against my FH 750 and the Sumo 600 had same capacity but fit better. IF i needed bags, i would go with Sumo's for sure, but my FH's are still working fine.

Why is the Sumo bow sack so much better? I just got the fly high as a gift for Christmas and now wondering if I should sell it and get the sumo?

From what I have read but have no experience with, people on here feel like the sumo bow sac conforms to the bow's tight place better, allowing more water in the sac. The Fly High sac in the bow does not fill all the way. I believe I read somewhere on here that the bow sac fills to about 650lbs. The only way to get it to full capacity is to use it on top of the seats. If you have a gift card, just go fly high. I am sure you will be happy with the purchase whichever way you choose.

A couple reasons. As stated above, the shape of the mushroom is a little different and seems to fill the voids a bit better, then the stem part is longer. Both those things allow the sack to hold a bit more water. When I switched to the Sumo bow sack I was able to pull out 200 lbs of lead in the very tips of the bow and move them back to under the driver kick panel and next to the batteries, this gave me the same stance in the water when weighted, but allowed my bow to not be so low when ballast was drained. I am only guessing, but I think the sumo holds around 100-150 lbs more, just my observation though.

Another thing with the Sumo's is the ports are 1" inside diameter, and if you have a 2014 Axis or newer, they all use 1" I.D. hoses and high flow pumps. It is ridiculous how fast the sacks drain in the 14's as opposed to my 2011. You have the 2014 so Sumo matches up perfectly. Another reason is the placement of the ports on the sack. The Fly highs have one fill/vent port in a good spot, farthest back of the two, and is accessible from under the chillax seats. But the second fill/vent port, farthest forward, ends up under the bow floor, pushed up against the fiberglass, and unaccessible once filled…. can't see if it is leaking, and it kinks the elbow, hose, and or sack at that spot. The Sumo's moved both fill/vent ports farther back on the stem of the sack and both of them are visible and accessible under the chillax seats. This also gives you a shorter run of hose from your fill pump or vent. The last thing is Sumo's have an additional port that is a manual fill valve for hand pumps that can be used to "burp" your bag. This spring loaded valve is positioned perfectly with the access hole under the center bow cushion. So you can burp your bag if you want/need too. Or if you have a pump failure, you can manually fill your sack very easily.

If you can, try to go with the Sumo's for all your plug n play sacks. They are perfect matches for 2013+ malibus and 2014+ Axis. They are less expensive too, at least the last time I checked months ago.

If not, the Fly Highs work just fine. I had the bow sack, but after seeing and trying out the Sumo bow sack, I ended up selling my Fly high to get the sumo. I plan on increasing on my ballast hose sizes to the 1" I.D. stuff and switching out my FH 750's in the rear to add the Sumo 600's. But that is down the line.

heres the thread on the bow sack comparison I did a while back

viewtopic.php?f=15&t=1563&hilit=sumo+bow+sack&start=20

Page 3 has my write up and pictures. But that whole thread is a really really good read with a lot of good info.

Boardstop does carry the Sumo sacs but we had so many problems with them last season I am not sure what we will do for 2014. Most of the bags had problems so even if they fit better it was such a pain for so many that more were unhappy than happy about the bags. Some used glue to hold in the fittings and that seem to solve the problem for some people. BFI does have a smaller 1" plug but if your boat has the full 1" hose setup like the newer boats that is going to fill really fast compared to the 3/4". The difference between the SL and the BFI to me is not night and day like it is between the 3/4. Going from 3/4" to 1" for Malibu/Axis was something we wanted them to do from the start. Glad they did it.

I have heard mixed reviews about the filling. SL will tell you they get 950+ in the bag. some will say the BFI gets 800+.. I have not seen anyone do an exact test and get solid numbers.

What I do know...over the 10 years of Boardstop(our 10th year 2014) I have NEVER warrantied a BFI bag and Boardstop is one of the largest BFI customers(from what they tell me).. I have used BFI bags in all my Malibu boats and I have personally never had a problem.

I get better margins(SL made overseas - BFI made in USA) and terms on SL product but right now if you were to get me on the phone I would recommend BFI bags for an Axis boat. I just have so many more happy customers with the BFI bags. SL having the fitting problem last season just seemed to make it worse. I hope they get that problem fixed.

I'm working on picking out sacks for me new A24, and I will also be going with all Fly high sacks. I've tried all of the different brands and I have never had any issues with Flyhigh sacks at all. The material they are made of seems to be the most durable and as long as I can get them to fit in my boat, that will be the solution I am running with! I'll let you know exactly what I end up with once I figure it out. Currently planning on going with the custom A24 bow sack, 1100s in the rear, and some more in the aisle way and possible in the main cabin. Should be fun!!!
