Any of you guys ride or have ridden a sky ski or air chair? I'm curious as to the learning curve and how it is on the lower back. I have to have a plate put on my ankle because the bone hasn't quite healed the way the doc wanted and figured a foil would give me a lower impact activity to do at the lake until my ankle is back to 100%, all the foil riders on my lake are 40+ so I figured it doesn't blast the body quite as hard as the wakeboard or slalom.
What do you guys think?

Yeah it's not easy...... I don't have one but I want one, I have a friend that let us borrow his so we could practice sometimes. I have maybe 10 tries and at least 5 hours of trying with instruction and I can maybe go 20 yards. It's completely diffent it's all core movements and I struggled to control the direction of travel. But it's good for me cause I liked the challenge. The people I ride with said don't waste your money on the cheap ones, and by cheap I mean The entry level 900$ or the pro ss 1900$ he said they are so much harder then the good ones. He said try to find a used one on the forums for 3000- 5000. He said he has two with 7000 to 10000 invested ? He said you want a one piece T bar which is the aluminum bar with the fin on it. I can go on and on with little tid bits of info I have been told so if you have any specific questions let me know and if I don't know the answer I can get it for you

The tower rack for one of those is $795 alone. You can slam just as hard on one too. The foils are dangerous as well.

yeah they are super sharp too they will cut the crap out of you ..... oh yeah I forgot to mention the racks are low $700 for non swivel and $900 for swivel
I still might just buy an ss version I think you can get a new blem pro ss for like 1400 and ill just have to learn the hard way I guess cause dropping 3-5 g's on a foil just doesn't fit in my budget EVER

Hopefully I can find someone at the lake to teach me before I just go off and buy one, but I'm not crazy about having sharp objects in the boat

a few guys from Austin are into foil. Al is one of the top foil guys in the world and I have pulled him behind a Malibu. I have never pulled someone on a foil and I was impressed. This guy was pulling off mobes. If you want to learn that crew can teach you. If you spend any time on Lake Austin this summer I bet you can run up on them and they would talk with you about it.
