We are planning to finally purchase a purpose built tow boat this spring, and after much debate we have decided to purchase a new Axis. We live in East TN and it was easy for us to take a tour of the factory this summer. We were super impressed with the quality of craftsmanship as well as just being proud to purchase something still "Made in America" as well as supporting our home state of TN.
We had pretty much made up our mind on custom ordering an A22... But now with the release of the T22 we are hung up. There are pros and cons for both boats, but the one thing that I am hung up on, is the shape of the hull and how the surf gate is mounted and how each boat will perform. We chose the Axis A22 because it has one of the top wakes in the industry and really don't want to make any mistakes by getting the T22.
The T22 looks to have a wider hinge mount on the surf gate than the A22 and the hull is shaped in a way that appears to allow a smoother flow of water to the surf gate (it's hard to see in the photo) anyway what I am getting at is...does anyone have info or opinions on the performance of the new T22 vs A22 regarding surf gate performance (i.e. is the surf wave better on one vs the other) as well as if you guys think the wakeboarding wake will be as good or better on the T22? Thanks for any input!

I dont think it will be noticable difference in the surf. I noticed they did they same thing to the A24. It could have been that one of the engineers just thought it made since to straighten the rear of the hull. Either way, your dealer will let you test both of them. Talk to the engineers about it during your factory tour. Which lake do you go to in East Tn? I am a local East Tn guy. I live in Knoxville.

We live on Boone lake near Johnson City. Thanks for your input! I think the T is going to be an awesome boat and a huge asset to the Axis family.

The nice thing about the a22 that both the t22 and a24 lack, is the ability to run the 950 mushroom sack. IMO the bow weight of the mushroom sac is what makes the axis wake so good.

The T22 looks almost as big as the A22 at the nose. It looks like it will loose a little room though.

I was told the bow sac in the t22 is more like 500 pounds. If that's correct, it's almost half the size.

According to some on here, the 950lb mushroom bag never filled to full capacity in the A22. I think I remember seeing someone's calculation on this website that it filled to approximately 650lbs. The only time the mushroom bag would get to 950lbs is when it was placed on top of the seats.

If you listen to the trailer on the T22 it runs in the water different than the A22 and shouldn't need as much bow weight.

I love the front of the T22. If they had a T24 this year that is what I would have ordered.

I'm interested to hear some reviews this next year once everybody has time in the new T22. It will be on my radar in 2015.
