I was one the guys who bought a 2013, BEFORE they cam out with 2014 Surf Gate. I was pissed, because my dealer told me they did not plan on putting them on the Axis.
So now, after demoing the Axis 2014 and seeing the Surf Gate, I am pissed. I was told no chance of after market because of stresses on the hull. They had to greatly reinforce the hull boat for gate because of extreme forces on gate. Looking at the Poor man gate, it doesnt seem to be that way.
My question, do you think this will cause any issues with the platform over time? Why could there not be a retrofit for the hull?
I can tell you the dealer is not happy about poor man gates, and of course says any damage will void hull warranties.
Do you think its worth the chance voiding warranty to hull?
Just asking for opinions on this.
Thanks

Sounds like your dealer is blowing smoke because he wants the $ for selling you an upgrade. I haven't made a poor gate yet but I plan on it some day.

I agree 100% w Walter. I check my hull periodically and have no areas of stress or gel coat cracking and I've got a lot of hrs surfing w the poor-gate on. The "wave" is the best I've ever surfed.

I was under mine yesterday and it looks fine after 50+ hours of poorgate surfing goofyside. Im ready to bolt a couple HPE gates to the transom, but this is just so easy.

Yea, just hit up Joey1 and don't worry. I was super pissed myself and about to eat shit on a new boat. (I have a 2012 A20 with 50 hours on it. But then I built a poorgate and just smiled! I'm only upset now becaude of the vinyl quality being so mucu nicer.
