Loving the stereo package so far. We do have one little issue I am hoping someone could help us with.

We play music using Pandora/rhapsody and when the power is cut to the boat's engine, the stereo goes off. When the boat is turned back on, it begins playing the iPod (books on tape) and not the rhapsody/Pandora app. Also, it would be nice to have the stereo constantly on instead of going on/off every time the switch is turned.

I am hoping we can just disable the on/off switch connection from the radio to the boat so that the radio head unit could remain on at all times unless "Off" on the head unit is pressed. We have dual batteries and shore power, so forgetting to turn it off is not a huge deal.

Thanks!

s

Turn the key to the left and it kills power to everything but the radio. At least mine does. But if not just hook your ign. Wire (usually red) to a 12v constant.

Thanks for the reply. I know I got a diagram for the radio install w the boat, so I will check which is the ignition wire for teh sony head unit. I wonder if there is a live 12V source on the console side that I could splice into. I'd rather not run a new dedicated 12V line unless I have to.

I'm looking at teh Sony diagram now, it has:
12V+ Switched (Red)
12V+ Constant (Yellow)

Can I simply patch both the red and yellow lines from the radio head unit into whatever wire the Yellow wire is currently connected to?

Correct, I would put a on off switch in line on the red wire to keep the battery from going dead when the boat is not in use, or make sure you turn the batteries off.

Very cool! I'm excited for this to be such an easy solution.
Thanks!

Did u try turning ur key to the left? Its actually doing the something just with a switch. It's like turning ur key in ur vehicle to acc. Just powers the radio.

Just move the power wires to an open "acc" toggle switch, that way you will be able to have uninterupted power to ur head unit even as u kill or start ur motor. When u turn off ur battery switch it will kill the stereo power even if u forget to turn off stereo or stereo switch.

When u turn the key to the left u will loose stereo power for a sppit second, enuff time to reset his phone/ipod off of pandora.

Go the acc switch route and let me know how it goes, i am thinking of doing this too

Ahhh, the plot thickens. I really like the idea of using the extra ACC switch on the dash. So I'd put my SWITCHED 12V+ (Red) on the switch from the ignition.
What wires will the ACC switch want? Ground and Red? Is it a three way toggle? Any input will give me a head start...

U will have to have a 12 volt constant to the switch, which might already be there I think mine came that way. Also a ground if u want the light on the switch to work then just run ur acc wire to it and u will be good to go!
