Can anyone describe to me how to replace the fuel filter. Also should this be replaced once a year?

Thanks in advance

I had looked at this last year when I thought I was having fuel issues. From what I could find our GEN 3 fuel pumps only need a replacement every 3 year or 300 hours (http://www.themalibucrew.com/forums/ind ... el-filter/).

Here's the part to use - http://www.bakesonline.com/detail.aspx?ID=1556
and instructions - http://www.bakesonline.com/images/2009/ ... n3pump.pdf

The fuel socks on the bottom of the pump assembly are part number 006069. There are what mine looked like after 250 hours.

not disagreeing with you Dave, if it recommends replacing it at that interval then its probably best, but I wouldn't mess the pump or the sock unless you had a problem. Do our boats have inline filters?

****EDIT****
Ok I see what your talking about now the piece in the top of the pump assy is the inline filter correct? do they have another filter someplace down line?

Just a follow up to this, has anyone changed the socks yet? Did it make a difference?

I am experiencing a miss with full ballast and trying to pull someone. It sounds/seems to me like fuel issue. Maybe bad gas, maybe dirty filter.

Would this warrant buying the pressure regulator and filters?
