I think we are slightly behind the Malibu crew they have been building and tweaking the gate for awhile there is some pretty useful info on this link check it out !!

Yeah. That's were I got some of my measurements from. Today I swapped out my paddle for one that sits another 12" deeper in the water. I also made an angled cut on the triangle mount at 15 degrees so that paddle will cant outward at 15 deg and follow the hull more closely. I'm not sure how it will effect the wave but it now more closely resembles the actual surfgate angle when its deployed. I figure at the very least it'll direct any spray coming over top away from the boat. I'll post pics tomorrow.

I really think once we get the size, shape and angle of the paddle dialed in the mount could be replaced with an actuator mounted to the hull. After seeing the little stress applied to the paddle and swim deck I'm not convinced the hull needs to be reinforced much at all at the actuator attachment point. Not sure I've got the faith to test out that theory just yet. When the time comes tho, I believe these are the actuators that are used on surfgate...

That thread on the Malibu site is weak. It rained all day today. Tomorrow is the day I test the gate! I will report with pics and videos asap!

I meant to say sits another 2" deeper in the water for a total height of 12" on the paddle. Up from 10".

Even if you do fill you need to reinforce the hull I think all you would need to do is liquid nail a stainless steal plate on inside of hull where Actuator is being mounted then fiber glass over steel plate for more Strength and you should be good. I like how this guy did it

great diagrams GoDucks. I think its already been mentioned that the factory surfgate has a 15' slant. Like this:

Image

also, since the 2014 swim-platform is higher on the hull than our, the paddle would also sit a couple inches higher than our swim-platform. I think someone also already mentioned the position relative to the tow loop.

I like that my temp surfgate can be used on either side, but I would like to ultimately go to a permanent actuated solution if it will fit under/beside a 2010 swim platform. Ill have to build 2 new prototypes; one like the above and one for the other side with the gate in the closed position to test it that is actually possible.

Finally got a video up. Long day traveling yesterday. Sorry for the delay. This run is all factory plus bow. 750 on skybox (was too much and had to drain %50-75% out) launch pad in each locker full. Eventually listed boat slightly to surf side. Made a big difference. Wow what a fun day! I rode till I couldn't ride anymore!
