I got this AUX USB port from amazon made by SeaWorthy. Installed in the same place as the 12v plug is on drivers side hardest part was running the cords to the radio.

Does it work with the radio? I tried to put on a USB extension cable on mine and run it under the seat and in the glove compartment and it wouldn't read with the extension cable hooked up.... That's when I went with a Bluetooth

To get Bluetooth to work you have to buy $120 Transceiver that hooks to back to radio

My Sony HU reads my iPhone if I plug the phone cord directly into the USB cord on the radio, it just doesn't work with the extension for some reason. I picked up a clarion hands free blue tooth for around 50$ It hooks up to the aux RCA inputs on the radio, it works really good but doesn't allow use of the pause or other functions on the radio, pretty much have to use the receiver to skip songs, taking calls works good and it's easy to hook up, bad thing is I think it's discontinued, every website I found it on says its out of stock and clarion doesn't list it on their online catalog any more.

How long of extension did you use Walter ? When using a USB extension over 10ft you buy usb with a Signal booster IOGEAR GUE2118 USB 2.0 Booster Extension Cable (Black)
Iogear
$37.95 $28.59 that's on Amazon

That makes sense then because you have to add the length of the cord on the radio and the length of the iPhone cord.

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universa ... #section_5

That's talking about ideal situations. So if the iPhone is a bit slow to respond or if the cable itself is not perfect, not well shielded, etc... then the real world max will be much less than the spec'd 5 meters.
