Front ballest problems

Im having a problem with the front ballest bag deflating, on my 2017 axis t-23. I can't see any water leaking into the boat. All around the bag is dry. Any ideas on what could be the problem? Thanks.

What bag are you running?

Could be leaking out the side of the boat (vent/drain) while on plane. Also, is the bag full of water or is there air in the bag when you are looking at it full? Could just be air escaping. If it only deflates a set amount and then stops, its likely one of those two. If it continues the entire time you are on the water, and the area near the bag and fittings is dry then you likely have a leak down in the connections in the bilge. Trace the tubing back with your hands and see what you find.

It's probably siphoning out the fill pump while you're running. Try adjusting the anti-siphon valve. Only catch there is, it's behind the kick panel under the helm.

Alternatively, you can put a check valve on the fill line so that water can only travel in the fill direction.

Fill line already has a in-line check valve in place. I was losing water out of my front bag through the drain line, I could watch it spit out the side while riding.

Mine was siphoning past the factory check valve; installed a ball valve and all is good.

How hard is the check valve install? Is it a pain to open/close every time you use the front bag? Also, is it a matter of how much ballast you're running in the back?

The check valve is there already... I installed a ball valve. Very easy to install with DIY plumbing skills... make certain you use marine silicone on the barbed ends.

Not a pain at all.... close valve when full... party.... drain... open valve and repeat when ready.

Siphon not related to transom weight... all about hose routing and suction (head pressure)
