If anyone is interested In knowing I just purchased the Acme harmonic prop puller and tried it out on my OJ 5 blade. The prop had been on the boat since we had the group buy, so I think 18-24 months. It did thread on all the way up to the prop flange so I used a broken piece of the cotter key and put in there to act as a spacer, instructions say to have a small gap, I gave it a couple of good smacks with the hammer and it popped right off, I didn't want to heat it up or beat on it from the back side so I found a video of this puller online and thought I'd give it a try, I was very skeptical but it did have good reviews, I'm a believer now, I'll keep this baby in the back of the truck from now on. It really did pop off just like the video shows!

The reason I removed it is to use on my friends tige that we just finished replacing the underwater gear, a 14" prop is the biggest his boat can handle hence using the OJ instead of my 1235 or 1615

That's pretty sweet. Beats my blow torch, wood block and hammer. I've got a 4 blade remover but due to the space between Cinco fins I had to use the heat method.

I tried this on my oj 5 blade and it didn't come off. Don't know what else to try to get it off. Putting the 2315 on it

Did you thread it on all the way hand tight and make sure there was 1/8" gap between the puller and the prop? Mine touched so I had to put a small piece of metal in the hole so I could get it to have a gap, then it came off after a few hits

Damn I missed the part about the piece of the key you put in there. I had the same problem yesterday, where the puller threaded on all the way to the prop. I ended up resorting to the torch and hammer method. Took a lot of hear to make a difference.

Yea I put the cotter pin in between, but after a couple hard hits, it would just shoot out. I really slammed on the the puller and it never budged. I guess I'll try putting a lrge piece of metal and trying again. I really dont want to have to buy another puller to get this OJ off.

1g4u, I think you need to put something inside the hole in the puller as Walter said. What you did was basically just put a space between the puller and prop but filled that space with your pin. Then when you hit the hammer, the force transfers through the pin to the prop which you don't want to be hitting in that direction. I tried something like that as well with just backing out the puller to leave some space, but I was afraid to hit it too hard and damage my threads. Really wish I had thought of metal inside the puller (or remembered what I had read in this thread earlier)

Try to find a 1/4" steel ball and use that inside the puller
