It seems weird that your rpms won't go above 3500. This might be a dumb question and I mean no offense but are you pushing the throttle down all the way. Cruise control will reduce your speed but it won't increase it further than the throttle is set. What if you turn your cruise off and take the boat up to speed. Also 11.8 might be a bit fast for a good surf wave. Good luck. Props on the video makes it easier to understand your frustration.

I agree, when I'm getting on plane my RPM's go up to around 4500 and settle around 3800-3900 at 23 mph

Did you check for codes? If you tripped one it could be in limp mode. I though youre engine sounded healthy though. At that altitude you might just be asking more than the 6 can deliver. You can try more bow weight. Throw a 500 up front. Get that prop pitched down to 11 is another option.

Do not think it could be a code as the thing runs out fine. Jumps out of the hole and hits top speed in no time with no weight in it.

I do think my next step will be to try and find some ballast and throw it up front. It does really feel like the power the boat is producing is trying to drive the boat up in the air rather than forward so it makes sense that some extra weight up front could certainly make sense and tip the balance a bit more forward.

Yea throttle is slammed in those vids. If you notice I am running into the same wall @ 11mph on the wakeboarding set up with cruise set to 21

Also understood on the 11.8 speed and the fact that we won't be surfing it up that high. I just wanted it set up high enough that it was easy to demonstrate that the boat was running out of ability to get the desired speed with a certain weight in the bags.

Thanks for the props figured it was much easier to show than try to explain.

What RPM's are you pulling full throttle and no weight? What speed exactly is this?

Thanks for the videos. Helps a lot. The 350's need to be 5000rpms wide open. I believe the 6L is around 5200rpms.

You are way short of being there. Check the codes in the main menu as suggested too. Make sure it comes back empty/clear.

Have you tried the same tests with cruise control off? My friends mastercraft cc went bad and would not let the boat get full power.

Just for clarity I am only running into the 3500rpm "wall" when loaded down with ballast And trying to get it to plane. Without the ballast it spins up fine all the way to max speed/rpm. I didn't remember what that rpm is but will be out this afternoon and will confirm.

This is the big downside of how they've geared the 409. IIRC when you look at the torque curves between the 6.0 and the 5.7, the 6.0 doesn't really start to shine until 4000 or so RPMs, which is where the 350 starts to run out of steam. if the 409 had the 1.72 tranny instead of the 1.5, you'd get into that meaty part of the torque curve.

If the prime objective is to push big weight, and cruising speed is irrelevant, I'd look at one of the newer acme 10.5 or 11 pitched props (more aggressive than 2419).

EDIT -- new prop sizes (left in 2419 so you can see where it now falls on the "aggro continuum"):

2943 15.00 10.500 0.075 cup 4 1 1/8" LH
2951 15.00 10.500 0.105 cup 4 1 1/8" LH
2937 15.00 11.000 0.075 cup 4 1 1/8" LH
2949 15.00 11.000 0.105 cup 4 1 1/8" LH
2777 15.00 12.000 0.075 cup 4 1 1/8" LH
2419 15.00 12.000 0.075 cup 4 1 1/8" LH

Size Matters, and bigger is not always better. The larger diameters apply more torque loading on the shaft, but have better RPM-to-Speed relationships. But we all have cruise control, so it is not that critical. I would drop your diameter to free up the RPMs and the additional slippage will not be an issue. My prop shop came up with a 13.5 X 14 for me that works great for me on my '14 A22 w/330. Tons of punch out fo the hole, and surfing and boarding is great. I never go above 30 MPH anyway, but that is about 3700 RPM. We can surf/Wakeboard/Ski all day (6 or 7 hours of towing) and still have more than 1/4 tank of gas. I could not be happier. BTW surfing and wakeboarding all are in the mid 3000 range. Unless we are skiing or tubing all tanks are full. We have the big Arrow sac in front (1,100?) and 750's in the rear. Wedge only used for surfing. YMMV
