Just wanted to share my experience with the cat 335 after 120 hours and see if it lines up with everyone else.

I love this motor. It does not seem to burn any oil, at least not noticeable on the dipstick, during break in or since my last oil change. It does a really good job with a lot of weight thrown at it, and it literally sips gas. I never check my engine hours against how much fuel I use to get an accurate gallons per hour measurement, but if I ever do, I will try to report back.

The other day I filled up completely. Went out all day and took 3 fully loaded sets, approx 20 min each (4K, full fuel, 3 dudes). Then I took out 8 people and pulled 6 of them with about 1k ballast. Each rider got 15-20 minutes, some were first timers but they all got up within a few tries and rode. My engine was almost running non stop for 3 hours straight for this part.

After it was all over, we went to fill her up and it only took 11 gallons. We were pleasantly surprised to say the least. I new that our motor did pretty well with fuel consumption, but I was really expecting more fuel to be used considering how hard we ran that day.

By your estimates your boat is burning 3-4 gallons an hour. There's no way my 335 is doing that. Mine burns 5 gallons an hour and that's with either the 5 blade prop or the 1235. I ride with maybe 2500lbs of ballast and 2-3 in the boat.

With mine (2009 / 5 blade prop) I'm running about 4.9 gph with a mix of boarding, surf, tubing.

This post has me curious...I need to find out my GPH. I don't think it's anywhere near that good...but it's hard to judge because I typically ride 45 mins to 1hr with my sets. I ran 3 sets today at 4K ballast, pulled my buddy for 1 set @ same, plus 3 wakesurfing sets. Last I looked at the gauge I had about 2/3 of a tank left, but I forgot to check when I pulled out. I was on the water for probably 4 hours.

3.2 gallons per hour....

Used my boat for the Canyon Lake learn to ride day, started with a full tank of fuel. Dropped the boat in at approx 7am and pulled it out a little after 3pm. It was running non stop pulling riders for 8 hours straight. I took a 15 minute break to eat lunch with the motor off, and thats about it, the rest of the time the motor was running (except to change riders). Majority of the time I had about 1000 lbs ballast (600 lead and rear hard tanks full) with atleast 6 adults in the boat. 4 riders took their sets fully loaded (4K plus people and gear), and one of those riders we had 8 adults in the boat to watch.

I ran it down to the gas station (same one I always use) and put 26 gallons in it. Super stoked on my motor and it doesnt burn a single drop of oil.

And I am using the Acme 1235. I think the cinco does a little bit better on fuel consumption, but I am more than happy with the results.

mine is a sipper as well ...... i don't ride around nearly as much as you guys do but i mostly have 3 people with 2 sets each at about 2k, each set is probably 30-45 min. i can go all weekend and never see 1/2 tank.

Dang, I have to stop using the wedge! A20 pretty loaded up and I'll go through 3/4 a tank in a day with 3 or 4 riders.

Wedge kills the GPH. I'll ride with front sac/tank full and wedge down with 5-6 people and burn about 1/3 tank for the day.

yeah, I forgot about the wedge... it is definately a gas killer. For whatever reason, if you mimic the wedge with water/lead weight, it does not burn as much fuel and handles/turns a lot better.

I get excellent gph with wedge for how much weight I run too. Anyone have the 2315 yet? Curious how it does. Also it help gph believe it or not to run a sack in the bow and let's you run more in the back too. I run 1100s in the rear factory arrow sack under seat and a bow triangle as well all topped off. Wake is amazing and the boat gets up albeit pretty slow with the 335 and te 1235 prop. I plan on getting the 2315 tho
