looking for something to try till my foot gets full strength. Don't want to go back to bindings just yet, surfing and wakeskate for now.

Any boards you can recommend?

Thats all I do is wakeskate. I stopped wakeboarding about three years ago. My ankles would swell up so bad after wakeboarding had to find something else.
I like the Integrity wakeskate. Great feel for me and it holds up well to sliders and stuff like that.
I used to only ride wood skates but after replacing about three to four a season I couldnt afford them.

Why were you having to replace them?

Some of the wood skates do not hold up well.. some of the manufacturers have gone to a 3 month warranty on wood skates. If you need something to last a long long time look at compression molded stuff like the LF mod or LF signal. The integrity stuff is good but more on the pro side of wakeskates and costly.

Reason I'm asking is to do something when my foot is done healing from surgery. Not too eager to put on the wakeboard, so I'll probably stick to wakeskate or wakesurf the remainder of 2012.
Found a Ronix Zariel. Guess i'll have to read up on it.

Try to find the Gator Doyle. Its a pro model but a couple years old so I found it for like $99. Its all plastic type material so it wont delaminate. It also has a fully padded top so newbs who dont bring shoes can use it just fine. Plus it fits great into the board racks.
