Really sucks- had prepped pretty good this year getting core and legs built up. Started off just where I left off last year and started progressing.
Last Sunday I came down on a simple jump and fell back on butt. Not a hard landing, but board twisted out a bit and hurt my right foot.
Went in to an ortho client and had some xrays just to be on safe side. Thinking mild sprain. After an MRI it turns out I screwed up the lisfranc ligament, causing the bones to relax and loosen up. Not a great one to have go down...surgery, two screws, and 10 weeks non-weight bearing in crutches. :| Surgery is next Thursday.
Plan to be out on the water in September/October.

That's terrible guy.... I hope your not in pain and have a speedy recovery, But do what the doc says and if there is PT listen. You want that foot to heal right. Bad feet injurys can mess you up for good if you don't let them heel

I feel your pain! Still recovering from a lisfranc fracture/dislocation. I fell off a roof and shattered one bone and dislocated 2 others at the lisfranc joint. After surgery I was non weight bearing for 8 weeks half weight for 2 weeks. My injury happened on dec 8 2011 and I still have mornings when I wake up that I can hardly walk on it. It's something you are going to be dealing with the rest of your life. Follow the docs orders or you will have even more problems. I am back to riding and it holding up pretty good. I can walk now without a noticeable limp most days.

Sorry to hear that... I was out last season with ACL reconstruction, so I totally know where you are at. Take your time rehabbing! Heal up quickly...

firefighter- I'm just praying for 95 percent of what I was...
10 weeks non weight. 2 screws. After 10 weeks- I get a weight bearing cast for 2 weeks.
PT following. after 4 months, the 2 screws come out.

I've read some bad stories, but others are good- Texans QB had the same injury. Most of the people I've read about with bad results waited several months (up to year) to have surgery. Gonna be tough, but I'm gearing up for the challenge. :)

Keep your head up! Stay focused on the long term. Doc told me that most of the problems he has seen with this injury has been people feeling like they could put weight on it before the foot was ready to support the weight and collapsed the arch. Its a common for dr's not to catch these injuries for awhile because they are so uncommon. You're right, it is a really good thing he caught it when he did.
