Plastidip might be a cool option since it's easy to remove. At least see how it looks.

yea, you can get it at Home Depot and it's really amazing. It comes in an aerosol can but don't let that fool you.
It's a rubberized coating and with a little elbow grease it simply peels right off. Doesn't come off easy by walking on it.
High pressure washer might peel it away...

the plast dip stuff works pretty good. I have tried wrapping stuff in black vinyl and using plasti dip on other things (not the boat... yet). The plasti dip is easier to work with and holds up better.
