Towing 2018 A22

Just seeing if you guys think my truck will pull the boat fine or not. I have a 2014 Chevy 1500 4x4 with the v-6 in it. The wife has an Escalade that I know will pull it just fine, but not really wanting to take it to the lake and having people get in and out of it if we don’t have to. Still got another month until our boat will be here, got a build date of June 13 so I’m hoping it don’t fall back!!

It will pull it fine be careful when braking. I went from a f250 to a f150 this year and it handles my 2018 LSV fine. My private ramp is 9% slope and that is the biggest challenge for me now. #moreboatthantruck

Dry base weight of 4000 lbs. on the boat. As long as you don't keep the ballast full, boat loaded to the brim with stuff, etc it should pull fine, just make sure the frame is set up to be level when hooked up on flat ground. Remember that stopping is the bigger consideration. Many vehicles pull all kinds of boats fine. The stopping is where it gets to be fun.

If the frame is not level it can affect the brake actuator operation on the trailer which will affect the trailer brakes adversely. Level to 1" high at the front is the range to use. Low is your enemy!

Yeah I went from a 2013 Tundra 5.7 v-8 that made our last boat look little. Now our boat will make my truck look like a toy. Kinda wishing I would’ve kept the Tundra, but as long as it’ll get us to the lake I’ll be fine.

Thanks for the info! I’ll have to check it all out once we get the boat.

Tow it with the v6 Chevy and see how it does depending on hills etc. then the next trip take the Escalade as it should have the 6.2? And decide that way.

I’ll have to do that, and see how it does. I’m sure it’ll pull it, was just seeing what some other people’s input on it is.

Where I am and go your v6 wouldn't cut it but if mostly flat you should be fine, I deal with lots of long grades and some real steep hills etc. So diesel is a must for me or I would have a 1/2 ton myself

I have towed my A22 a few times with my wife's 2015 Audi Q7 3.0T and it worked fine. Not the ideal tow rig but it made it up and down the mountain passes here in Utah without trouble.

How far are you towing it? I tow my t22 with a Yukon Denali 6.2 AWD and it does good. I also have a Toyota with a 4.7 2wd that I use sometimes. I like the Yukon for the people moving aspect but prefer the tundra for the use of the bed. Just did a 6 hour drive last summer through east coast mountains and the Yukon did great in tow mode. The gas bill wasn’t fun but it’s expected. I generally tow 20-30 minutes and love the Yukon for that. I will consider a diesel for my next tow vehicle though for sure
