Hi all, new to the board here and joined because of how helpful posts have been for me. Please note this is not meant to be a whining sessions, I am just sharing in case others hit the same issues which I know some already have....

Bought my 2016 T23 new off the showroom floor last August....
> early last September, amp driving Rev 410 tower speakers fries....2 trips back to dealer to get fixed as Malibu sent wrong part first time
....had 20 hr service performed along with winterization, stored inside for winter
> labor day weekend (May 17) - starboard surfgate quits working (won't deploy)....back to dealer for 2 weeks, complete wiring harness and control unit replaced...apparently known issues with relays used in the 16 harness, so basically got 17 harness
> one week later, end of 4 hour session, starboard surfgate chokes again (won't retract - display on left guage says "Right Surfgate Switch Error, See Dealer", right guage says "Surfgate Locked) back to the dealer again. Easy one this time, blown fuse....head mechanic replaces fuses with circuit breakers as were used in the 17's
> now to this week....supposed to be up at the lake for the week for family vacation, but not so fast....
>>>first my oil pressure warning starts going off...check the oil, can hardly see on dipstick...add 3-4 quarts - would not have expected this having only used the boat for about 15 hours since oil change (350 btw)...so all is good
>>>daughter gets a run in, circle to get her, put it in reverse and hear "clunk"...engine dies. "did I hit something?" nope...start it back up, put in gear, dies. long story short, v-drive locked up as I found others had experienced on here.

All of this said, my dealership has been outstanding and I've known the owner since the mid-90s. Took the boat back again this morning and have requested that he work with me to get into a new boat (17 T23 I hope) as I'm just done with this one. Seems like anything and everything that could go wrong has and I'm honestly just afraid to put it back on the water.

Again, I just wanted to share in case anyone else hits any of these issues.....

Thanks

Yep the 350 drinks oil and no one seems to know why. I add 1 quart every 10hrs on my 16 A20 and that's running around 2500lbs ballast and no wedge at 22-23 mph 3800 rpm. I am getting that vent kit added to my vdrive tomorrow before anything happens. I'm at 85 hrs and everything else about the boat has been fine. Good luck with what ever happens. Having a good dealer makes all the difference!

What is the Vdrive problem? I have a 2015 T23. Should I be concerned or is there something I should do?

I have a 2016 with almost 200 hours. It does like oil a lot but no other issue. I replaced my fuses in the beginning.

PCM redesigned the pistons and rings for the 350 and now it burns way less oil.

Not everyone's as it would require taking the motor practically apart. I was having mine checked for a possible compression problem and they did it. Turned out to be faulty test equipment but hey, new pistons/rings and less oil burn!

I'm pretty sure that PCM only marinizes existing GM motors. If there was a piston/ring redesign it would have came from GM.

I don't see GM doing a change on the 5.7 as it's going away.

Well it may have came from GM, but PCM has the parts now and they're in charge of the whole engine from a warranty perspective. If you have an issue with your motor such as a compression problem it goes to PCM, not GM, and they check the gaskets, rings, seals, etc.

I have the new piston/rings and it burns less oil than before.
