First time out today. Boat ran fine for about the first hour to hour and half. Stopping and going just riding around. No ballast and no boarding. About an hour and a half in we stopped and I smelled something burning. Opened back and light smoke coming off of engine. Checked gauges and temp was up to 205. Sat for about 5 minutes trying to figure out what to do as a bad storm approached. Decided to crank up and see what happened and temp dropped back down to around 160-170. (It dropped real fast also). Was able to get back to dock running around 25 mph with no problem. Sitting at dock to load on trailer and Service Required popped up along with beeping sound.
Any ideas as to what happened?

Check your impeller. When was the last time it was changed?

I'd recommend the same...could have been something sucked up or blocking the inlet that fell loose after killing the motor...smoke could have been it heating and cooling the rubber?
