We have paddle wheel only no zero off gps,
My 7 year old does not wakeboard very high speeds. I set cruise at 14.5 MPH and after cruise engaged the speed varied from 12.2 to 16 ish. Is this common or do I have a problem? If common does zero off preform better ( on lake ) and can you install or did it need to be bought when we ordered boat.

It is common for speed to fluctuate a bit with paddle wheel but not sure about 4 mph. I have a 16 A20 and added GPS cruise after the fact. The good thing about Axis is that everything is prewired. I bought the puck from my dealer, drilled the hole for the wire harness to go through and plugged it in. In the settings you can change from paddle wheel to GPS. Works so much better than paddle wheel in my opinion and holds speed.

Are you basing the 4mph off gps or off the dash speedo?

I could be wrong but if you are fluctuating that much I don't see how what input u use makes a difference. The cruise looks at in input signal and tries to hold it based off that. My paddle holds it within a mph easily when surfing.

14.5 MPH is a very awkward speed. Unfortunately, you are basically halfway on plane and it's really hard for the boat to manage that. I'd bet at 18-19mph the problem would go away.

I think you're wasting your time, but let us know what they say.

The best thing to do would be to get them to the point where you can go 16-17mph. That's still relatively low impact, and at that speed the wake might actually start to clean up so they can cross over the wake easier.
