Hey guys, glad to be on the boards. I've been lurking while I waited to be approved and read a ton of great info. I have read a few things that made me apprehensive about my purchase tho. I am planning to purchase a 2016 t23 with the 350, factory hard tanks and plug and play ballast. I have read multiple thread about these boats having trouble planing out and holding speed etc. should I expect to have an issue with ballast full pulling a wakeboarder 21-23mph. I am in north Georgia at 1500ft, coming from a 2004 Supra 22ssv that doesn't break a sweat doing it and cruising across the lake at 30+mph. I want this to feel like a substantial upgrade considering I will be doubling my payment.

Secondly, I have read a lot about the different surf setups and the additional weight added etc. with factory hard tanks, PnP 900 bow and 750 corners can I expect to have a surfable wave? Coming from the Supra with a suction gate I expect it to be much better and don't want to think I will have to add more weight to achieve at least a basic surfable wave?

Any input or advise I would surely appreciate and look forward to the insight this board can provide.

Brian

You'll get a great wave out of the T23 with 750 bags in the rear and a 900 bow bag on top of the seats. They always say, the more the merrier but you'll be plenty fine with that. T23 is beast of a surf wave for the price especially.

As far as wakeboard wake, YMMV at 1500ft with the 350 and 750 bags full it might plane out, especially with that 900lb bag on the seats up top, but don't expect to do it with the wedge. Idk, what prop it has, but per the engineering team at Malibu, the ACME 2773 is the best pulling prop for the T23. You won't see above 34-35mph but it will give the best balance of pull vs RPM. Your Supra 22ssv is likely a lot lighter than the T23 and not as ass heavy. She's a big bottom girl...just make sure you test it out before you buy.

That's great to hear about the surf wave. Why does the bow bag have to be on top of the seats instead of under? All I'm concerned with is having a wave that can be surfed by beginners without having to hold onto a rope at all times.

Wakeboarding is my main priority and apprehension. So could I expect the boat to plane out and use the wedge without the ballast full? Also is the boat boardable while not planed out? I've read a ton of good reviews about the wake size and shape but I imagine that's with 3k of ballast but if it can't get to 20+ mph then it's useless.

Again thanks for info and feedback I just want to be sure I'm making a smart investment. Our Supra has been great but since we typically have 8-10 people it's just to crowded.

You will love the T23 great surf boat. I've had and rode many others but for the money it's hard to beat when set up correctly.ImageImage

I only mentioned the bag on top of the seats because you mentioned a 900lb bow bag, you're not fitting 900lbs under those seats, more like 400 in water. You don't have to use a bag on top to go ropeless at all.

For wakeboard you can probably use the wedge plus half rear ballast full at 1500ft and no, you can't wakeboard if the boat doesn't plane out. It will be completely washed out. The wedge+half rear ballast at 22.4 is money though.

I'm running pretty much the same set up as you on a 15 T23 at 1000' just across the GA/SC border. I'm 6'4/240 and am able to go ropeless on the surf wave. As for wakeboarding i usually fill the front and the rear about 1/2- 2/3 full and am able to plane pretty easy.

We wakeboard a lot but some prefer to weigh the ballast down in the rear 2/3 full and no wedge and others like to decrease the ballast in rear and drop wedge in our group. Our rear ballast bags are 900. We have all stock full plus bag full under bow.

Depends on speed, rope length and rider preference. We are at 1000' in TN and run the 350 motor.

Side note: When we moved to the T23 from our old VLX, everyone now stayed seated in the cabin. There's just so much room in the cabin and with the Chillax seats...I have to "encourage" people to sit in the bow. So "human" ballast seems to gather in the cabin more than our old VLX.

I can't say for the t23 (yet) but my t22 wake is killer with ballast full (750s rear 600 bow) and 2-4 adults on board 4-8 people the wake is awesome 2/3 full on the rears and never a wedge for wakeboarding. The hull shape with the ballast creates such a meaty wake with a fun predictable transition. I do feel like I do over weight it sometimes and it's not worth the stress on the boat. It will plane out but takes a bit more work.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm looking forward to getting some water time on the boat and not feeling so cramped when we have 8 people on board. Since 75% of the time a wakeboard will be behind the boat that was a primary concern for me.
