Hey guys I have a 2011 A22 but i find the tower a total pain to take down to fit in my garage (i do this after every use) My problem is the struts need to come completely off the tower to fold it down and they are heavy and it takes two people. the new Gen tower there are only two bolts at the top and the struts fold inwards making it much easier.

I just happened to go to Minnesota inboard this weekend and noticed a older generation tower with a HINGE!!! can anyone identify if this is off of another year or model or is this something aftermarket?

Also if you have any ideas how to make it easier to take the tower down on these boats i would appreciate it.

these are pictures of that boat https://ibb.co/n1teqa https://ibb.co/n1teqa https://ibb.co/g3woiv Image

1st gen tower was redesigned with the hinge and came from the factory. No aftermarket option exists that I've seen.

I wonder if it uses the same tower base because it looks like the tab is the same they just added a bolt on bracket and redesigned the strut. Great information guys

I highly doubt they changed the base other than adding the hinge

Mine is hinged and it is a huge pain in the a$$ to lower. You need 2 people. It might help a little since you have less knobs to take out, but it is poorly designed in that the side pieces go outboard of the ridge on the overhead bar. It sucks to lower, I would recommended trying one out before you go to the trouble/cost to switch yours out.
