Was just talking with my local dealer and they are getting ready for the Austin boat show. It is that time of year! Our show has gone away from any of the exciting special events we had in the past. Rail Jams are over. The waterskiing squirrel has even left us. I'm not even sure if I saw the kid fish last year. It has expanded with a huge amount of RVs. The local boat dealers will have all the new 2017 boats so at least we have that going for us.

Are you shopping this year?

Just looking?

What are you wanting to get out of your local show?

our boat show is 80% rv's/campers 15% pontoons and fishing boats and the rest is runabouts and a few wake boats, but its a good excuse to get off work and go drink the day before i drive 12 hrs to Florida. And I keep joking with my wife that I am going to buy a camper and live in it when we decide to sell our home and build another one and she is not opposed so we might start looking at some toy haulers.

Our local boat show blows.

We always go down to Cincinnati and spend the afternoon walking around checking everything out. This year my dealer asked me if I would 'work it' with them, basically promote the brand and build excitement with people on the fence by just sharing my enthusiasm for all things boats. I'm excited, I love all things boating related and people who like boating, plus I get to crawl around new models for an entire day and my dealer rep is a great guy, so we can just relate and chat about most anything. Should be fun.

Already got my '17 order in, should take delivery next month!

Austin show...

I checked out the show on Sunday. I really did not spend that much time looking over the boats. I spent more time making my rounds connecting with friends I have met over the last decade. Great to see a few faces still around in the industry.

One thing that took me by surprise was when I looked over at this REALLY small boat and realized that it was a 22ft boat. WOW. Boats are getting to be HUGE these days. The 25s are massive.

I have also noticed that boat sales seem to be really strong. People are getting into new boats and most boat dealers are seeing numbers climbing year after year.
