Going to be a new owner of A22. 1st time owner and no real experience in wake boat. Was wondering if anyone has felt underpowered with the 5.7L w/ballasts full and load of people?

Any input much appreciated.

Thanks! Brian

In addition to crew size and ballast, it also really depends on elevation, wedge, additional bow weight if you're slammed in the rear, and prop.

In my '15 A22 with the 350 and ACME 1235, I have never felt underpowered for surfing (PnP plus extra bags) or for wakeboarding. Top speed could be a little better but I don't really run over 30mph anyway.

Congrats on the boat by the way!

Thanks JayMan! Only did a couple of test drives and it seemed good, but it is good to hear some actual experience.

I've had my 2016 A22 with 5.7L for about 1.5 months now and I can't get on plane with stock ballast plus 825 bags in the rear and 750 bow bag (no wedge), Acme 2313 prop. Just trying to sort it out but I'm fairly certain it's the prop, will hopefully try a different prop before the end of the season.

Elevation? I need to check on what prop I am running but by 2015 A22 will plane out (takes a little bit) with 1100s filled as much as I can, front triangle and an extra 500 up front.

If you're not up in the mountains somewhere then it sounds like a prop issue.

That motor seems to do just fine for the majority but there have been a lot of people at elevation that it are having issues with it. Maybe this is why the 6.0 will be standard for the 17's?

My elevation is only 2247 feet so that shouldn't be the problem I don't think.

I run the 5.7 with 4K+ in ballast no problems on my 16' T23. I run the OJ 945 prop.

It's because GM quit making the 5.7 two years ago. There aren't any left.

Ok, have had the boat for 2 weeks and it has been awesome! Now working on trying to get a good wave. So far been getting the best wave @ 11.4mph with all stock ballast and P&P full.
