I am headed out to Lake Powell on Wed from Denver (about 8 hours) and was wondering how much of the hull are you guys taping up with painters tape? Upon reading a good number of posts it seems the consensus is to trailer without the cover and plastic wrap the tower and speakers. Just wondering how much of the hull you guys are taping up. Maybe windshield as well?

I tow 300 miles a weekend and don't tape anything.. no cover but do put speaker covers on for the bugs.

I got wrap from home depot and towed for about 9 hours each way with the cover. It kept the cover from making any rub marks. However I did get some rubs on my vent covers in front of the windshield on the top corner so maybe put some painter tape on there. I also got marks on the side where the buckle secure the cover around the tower. No matter how tightly I winched the cover down it would pull up above the rub rail there. Over all not to bad I can't probably get all the marks out with some polish and buffing. I truly hate the cover they sell with the boat it seems no matter what you do it doesn't tow well, can't keep water from pooling and leaking in rain. The cover on my Tige was light years better than this piece of junk. Thankfully my boat is under my boat house almost all the time and is used mostly for protection from the spiders. If I towed a lot or kept my boat unprotected I would need to buy a new cover.

I go to Lake Powell 4-5 times a year. 5-6 hours each way. I put the cover on. I recently ordered a snap on cover. I like that better. But I don't tape anything.

I bought the boat to use it, not to rub it with a diaper. Covering it with painter's tape 10 times a year isn't my idea of fun. I did get a keel shield to protect the keel from beaching it at Lake Powell though. I think that was worth it.
