I used the same specs for our suck gate that walter posted on his DIY home made delta thread. After trying it this weekend with 750's in the rear along with all hard tanks filled and the arrow bow sac filled, I was hoping it was going to be a little bit better surf wave. I didnt feel like it provided that much push in the wave. We tried anywhere from 9.5 all the way up to 11 and finally settled on 10.2 as the best mix of length and height. I tried it with the wedge up and down and settled on riding with it up. The wave actually looked pretty clean, it just wasnt life changing with the suck gate as others have mentioned. I am riding a inland surfer black pearl board. Im wondering if I need to try more bow weight. What do you guys think? I'll try to post up some pics from the go pro.

10.2 is where my wave was the best too, I surf goofy and just started to put the wedge down, I also run the same weight as you but I don't have any rear tanks, I love the wave, what didn't you like?

I thought the wave felt soft and not enough push. I would say after reading about how many people rave about these things I was somewhat let down. Maybe i was expecting it to blow me away and it just didnt. Thats why I was wondering if maybe my setup was a little off. Just seeing how the wave goes from looking fairly tall to completely flat by just bumping the speed up a little I have to believe that making the slightest adjustment one way or another may be able to dial it in quite a bit better.

I'm still a newbie at surfing but this setup was the first time I have been able to go ropeless without falling right away, now I can go for as long as I want and can ride up and down the pocket and recover if I get too far back, I may start adding weight later on but I'm having fun with it the way it is for now.

Ya my buddy that has had trouble going ropeless prior to the suck gate, rode for longer than he ever has so it did improve the wave somewhat. I guess if it had more push I wouldnt be complaining. I felt like I always have had to ride right up on the platform for good push and I still feel the same way after adding the suck gate. It did lengthen the pocket I noticed, just not much push towards the back at all. I guess for a $30 diy and a couple hrs of my time its acceptable but If I would have paid $500 for a Mission Delta and gotten the same results I would be sending it back. Gonna try more weight up front and I'll post up the results.

What's the deminsions of your gate? Mine is 8.5 x 11" at a 45° angle. I've run practically the same weight with wedge at 11mph and the wave has way too much push. I'm constantly on the brakes and the wave has considerable size too. Best thing I've done for wake surfing so far.

The picture is a little deceiving. But the rider is 5'7" but also doing a bottom turn.

Mine is 7x10 and the angle is around 80 degree at best guess. Your wave definitely looks taller than mine. I followed walter's home made mission delta thread to create my suck gate. So you suck gate angle is more like Wake Surf Edge?

And what year is your boat? Mine still has the old style swim platform.

Yes it looks like the same angle. I also run it higher on the hull. I have a 12' though.

This weekend I may try it with full ballast. Ontop of the factory and PNP with 600's rear, I also have an 500 in lead, 800 floor sac, and a 450 bag I can put in the bow.
