A couple of weeks ago, my surf gates quit working and I tried everything the dealer wanted me to try. It didn't work and I had to take it in. They ordered the actuators thinking that was the problem and it wasn't them. Now they ordered the brains for the surf gate. While there were in the engine area, the found that my alternator bolt sheared into the block. They have to call the Corvette engine people to see how they want to move forward on this. The bolt had already been replaced once before with a stronger bolt. They aren't sure why the bolt sheared. There thought was the torque the engine puts out under a fully ballasted boat made it snap. I'm crossing my fingers for a fast repair, but I'm guessing not. The warrant expires in November, so at least it is happening now!

Don't worry. It's not a big deal at all. I had my alternator bolt shear too on my ls3 along with another engine at my dealer. Mine sheared below the first thread so I had no leverage to grab the end of the bolt. What I did was punch two holes on the outside of the bolt and used a couple of picks to rotate the bolt out. It spun out super easy. Literally took me 5 minutes.

I would try my route before using an easy out set. Just in case, leave room so you can punch the center of the bolt to drill it out, worse case scenario.

For replacement, I actually bought a SS ARP head stud of the same size and have had no problem in 400 hours. Be sure to use anti seize since its and aluminum block.

The alternator bolt sheared on my LS3 too. It took me significantly longer than 5 mins to pick out the remaining part of the bolt :). It took me that long to get into a position I could hope to work on the bolt! But I agree it is not catastrophic.
Good luck with your repair!

The dealer is doing it and still trying to figure out the surf gate problem. I'm hoping to have the boat next week???
