I wipe down the boat with Babe's Spot Saver every time, but I feel like I should be waxing the gelcoat too every now and then. I've tried Babe's Wax based Gelcoat cleaner, but it doesn't seem like a real wax job.

How often do I have to wax the gelcoat and what should I use? I store indoors in the Winter and driveway in summer if it matters.

I use starbrite marine polish with ptef. I do it twice a year in the early summer and then at winterizing time frame. I use babe's green stuff (not the purple spot remover) just about each time I take the boat out. I store inside (non heated) without the cover year round. My boat is black and my last one as well. The ptef keeps the lake slime from sticking to the side of the boat quite well.

Hula cleaner wax followed with their polymer sealer leaves the boat super shiny and slick. After everyday on the water I just use their Surf Away Detailer spray, no need to even use a water spot remover. I do once in the Spring but I do 2 coats of wax. My boat is stored indoors all year and used 9 months solid and a few times in the 3 month Central Texas off season. Here's a reflection pic of my black 2011 A22.

I use hula also. Riptide compound, cleaner wax and sealer. I use performance boat candy speed gloss for water spots and quick wax when I pull the boat out. I have been meaning to try hula's water spot quick wax but speed gloss works so well I have not felt the need to experiment with another product yet.

The only Hula product I'm not a fan of is the water spot remover only because it sprays like a thin gel.

Collinite's marine wax twice a year. It holds up very well.

AJ,
Do you use Hula products on your seats?

I have used all Boat Candy products for gelcoat and seats the past 2 years but am planning to give Hula a try for the gelcoat next time. No complaints with Boat Candy just never had that "wow effect" after waxing.

After reading your "protocol" on gelcoat care, I would like to give it a go and am gonna give Hula a try.

Anyway, just curious your experience with interior care?

Thanks

I really like Hula's interior cleaner/protectant. It's one of only a few all-in-one cleaners with UV protectants. It definitely is not near as slippery as Boat Candy or Babes interior cleaners are after applying and the first couple days after. You can feel the vinyl soften up hours after use and it cleans very well. I'm a fan and it's what I use. Just be sure to shake occasionally because it does separate.

I use Hula Surf Away after every outing, cleaner wax and poly sealant once a season... only way to go.

Old thread but I just tried out the Hula products as I'm getting the boat ready for winter storage. I followed a similar protocol to AJWest...worked great. Boat really looks nice and feels "slick".

I used Boat candy in past but my initial impression with Hula is really nice. I have ordered the Hula Surf Away to use after daily use on water. I'm interested to see when I feel a need to wash, wax, seal again.
