So i have to turn around in my neighbors driveway because im on a dead end street. once in his driveway, the trailer came off the ball rolled back, all the safety cables broke off, and my runaway boat and trailer came to a stop. Sadly do to running into his now totaled out jeep.

The pin to keep the latch was gone, little wire too, so i think it worked its way in, and then out the bottom. The safety cables were all rusted. I had no idea that they were, why put something on a boat that will rust? So if you have cables and not chains then i would change them to chains, and the pin, i would replace with a cotter and clevis pin. Now how did the latch come up with the little slider thing on top, i guess vibration? I'm not sure.

I can say the swim deck is built like a tank. I got a little chip on the corner of the deck that I'll have to get fixed over the winter time, and that's about it. No stress cracks anywhere that i can see.

I have pictures, but i can't seam to upload them. maybe its a firefox thing?

Wow sound like some serious bad luck? All 5 safety features failed at the same time? Almost hard to believe, please post some pics.

Man that sucks.. Crazy to have all of the safety points fail like r33pwrd said. I have never seen everything fail like that. Especially just driving around in the neighborhood. Ive seen a whole boat shoot off the trailer but the trailer stayed locked on the hitch.

I am not familiar with the year your trailer was built but mine has two thick cables that hook to the truck. Also I have a small cable that works the emergency brake on the trailer.

I'm willing to bet someone pulled your pin and undid your latch.. but honestly even at that point it would take one hell of a bump to it hop of the hitch unless you have little to no to Unger weight.

Jeebus! Glad no one was hurt. And I'm surprised how stout the swim platform is....it buckled that liftgate and quarter hardcore!

Ya, so his driveway slopes up, then down, then off the ball, I did not even feel the cables pop. Just watched her drift away.
