Hi All,

I have a 2015 A22 with the Monsoon 350 & 2000lbs of added ballast. The primary lake we run at is 6,500ft above sea level & the boat came spec'd with the Acme 1235 prop. Surfing last weekend with 4 passengers, the engine was running at 4k. Should I stick with my current prop? Sorry, I know nothing about them.

Thx,
Peter

OJ was guilty. Any clue on what difference I could expect by switching?

I would recommend the OJ945 that was already mentioned above or the 2247. 15's and up really need a 15in prop. I had the 1235 to start and was shocked at the difference when I switched to a 15in.

Much better holeshot vs the 1235 and you will lose a few mph's

I assume that will make my revs even higher while surfing, correct? As I'm new to boating, perhaps I'm just not used to the steady 4k rpms. Sounded high to me for 11mph

I don't run 4k while surfing with more weight than that and have the 2249 prop, I'm pretty sure I'm like 32-3300 rpms.

The best advice that I can give is call OJ and talk to Eric. I originally called them after researching on this forum thinking I needed a 945 and he ended up putting me in a 985. Then when it did not do exactly what I was hoping for (due to my elevation and motor/tranny combo)it's now going back to them and he's going to tweak it a little bit for me. Taking some cup out of the prop and with any luck getting me exactly where I need to be for my set up. I will give them a huge thumbs up for being amazing to work with in getting me dialed in. The one thing I have learned through all this is that everyone will have their own specific needs due to their circumstances. Ask the pros to provide you that info - in my experience they were happy to.....

ThatGuy - I'm at 6,500ft above sea level so down quite a bit in power.

A22inCO - Thanks, I will give him a call next week after I gather some additional data this weekend.

The other advice that I would give is that these things LOVE weight in the front to help them plane out. And at altitude we need all of the help we can get! I ordered 200lb of ballast bags from leadwake.com and put them up in the bow (stashed under my front PNP sack as far up as I could get it). I did notice that helped a good bit in getting the boat to plane out easier. I am actually going to be now going to find a bow bag for when I have a smaller crew and dont have 2-3 people to have ride in the front.

It just feels that now rather than the power trying to push the boat up and out of the water it is helping angle the boat more forward than up. If that makes sense?
