Hi nobody seems to wake surf running standard PNP on a 2014 A22 with surf gates. Do I really have to upgrade to 900 in the rear locker and the 950 in the bow (I have the standard 330 monsoon). Now my standard bag is 475 in the front and the seat cushions are popping outa bit. I was wondering what will happen if I switch for a 950 from wave makers since it is 2 times bigger.

Your thoughts?

You don't have to do anything. You can surf with the wedge and the hard tanks if you want. On my demo day we didn't have a front bag at all and only had 750s in the rear. It was certainly a big tall wave.

But the more weight in the boat, the bigger the wave. You can have more fun on a bigger wave. So one alternative is find a bunch of fat friends.

Lol!! And what about the 950 bow sac from wave makers? Will it really fit under the cushions? Even the 475 makes them pop...

I have the 950 arrow, but don't think it actually holds that much. I just turn it off when the seats start to pop up.

I get quite a lot of weight in my 950 in my 2014 a20 front locker. Wife and I alone, the 950 is all we need to run big 750 rears 650 fill or more?, no sacks anywhere bu in lockers, no lead , but with chillax we lose the walkway sort of unless you twinkle toes up there holding wind shield. I really need 2 big dudes more upfront and I would have an even longer wave jacked up the way it is from the heavy rears.

So do you need the big load up front, no brainer unless you plan to list a lot and then why buy surfgate boat if you list all the time and you still need good nose weight

Do you want to surf or do you want a mackin wave, run heavy or/and list

I have the same boat as you. The wave wakes up when you slam it. My current ballast configuration is 900lb sumo sacks in the rear and the arrow sack in the front. I also recommend 400 - 600lbs on top of the bow seats. Also make sure you have either an oj945 or acme 2315 prop. Have the passengers sit on the side the surfer is riding on. Start at 11mph and play with the speed from there. Also, wedge should be down.

Here is a pic of my wife riding the goofy side with the setup mentioned above.

Nice wave. Are you using a surf gate of some sort? That is my set up as well, except for the extra 400-600 on bow seat. I am using a poor mans gate I made (works like the Mission slide gate)I will try an extra 400-600 on the bow seats.

Yep. The 2014 A22 has surf gate. I do recommend the bow weight regardless. A 400lb sack usually does the trick.

Another thing to check... make sure you front bag is not trapping air. My 2013 was bad about holding a lot of air and it was difficult to fill up all the way.

But, in general you are going to get a much better wave with more weight, especially the front.

On our '14 A22 we ended up running all tanks full with 800s in the lockers and the arrow bag under the bow. It doesn't fill anywhere near the 900 lbs it says. We would then fill a 400lb bag on top of the bow and wedge or 400 on top of bow and another 750 in front of the rear seat. We rarely have more than 4 on the boat and the extra weight really helped with the push on the reg side.
