Finally buying a home on a river with boat house and lift. My question is how should I position the bunks? Right now it has a couple 2x10s about 30 inches or so apart.. I know the bunks need to be high enough for the skegs to clear but what about the shaft and prop? Is there a need to put some kind of stop so you don't hit those on cross beam?

General rule of thumb is to keep the bunks high enough to ensure that the underwater gear has enough clearance to not catch any of the cross members of the lift. Some I/Os will have a bar to catch, but in our world it is better to have clearance and usually put a slight ramp to the bow (keep the front section a click/bolt higher than the rears) that way you know when you are in the right position and dont have to worry about going to high. Also do a visual check to make sure the bunks are in the right place and not sitting on a chine of any sort. Lastly, I ended up putting mine in a bit of a "V" with the point towards the bow, this way no matter how kiddywampus I enter the lift, I end up straightening out. Pretty much try to recreate the bunks on the trailer...
