We were out yesterday and got a rope wrapped around the prop shaft. After a struggle with a dull knife, we were able to free it. Everything seems fine but after inspecting this morning I'm worried a seal may have came out of shaft coupler(not sure if that's the correct name). Can some post a close up pic of this area?
Thanks

Stop worrying. Besides the loss of the rope, you look good to me.

No problem. It looks like if anything it may have pushes the seal in some. I don't think a caught rope would rip a seal out but the way it tightens around the prop and shaft maybe just squeezed it in some.

Here's a pic from a different angle. I'm pretty convinced something's missing. The other side of the coupler looks identical to 3oh2's pic.

After searching a little further (bakes.com), I've decided there isn't a seal there. It's a strut bushing. and there is two in the coupler. Mine appears to be pressed in a little. I'm going to keep an eye on it and see if anything changes.

I think that rubber bushing goes the length of the strut, if it just damaged the last 1/8" i think you'll be ok

That also happened to me on the 4th, i'll never forget the sound it made when it ran out of slack
