So I'm taking delivery of a new T23 this week. I'm trying to determine the best position for the lift bunk placement. I looked at the trailer and found the have an outer set of bunks that start in the rear and stop about mid boat then there is a inner set that starts around midboat forward to bow.

But, I have only one set (two bunks) on the lift no multiple partial bunks like the trailer has.
I'm trying to determine if I go with the inner bunks or outer.

If you are facing the transom, there are chimes about 45" apart (22.5" from center).
The other item I noted was the paddlewheel is about 5 feet from the transom and about 10" from midline. So you need the inner portion of bunk to be at least 20" wide so you don't crush the paddle wheel.

Each bunk on the lift is 6" wide. So do I go inside the chines and put bunks around 34" center to center or jump outside chines for wide bunks at around 52" center to center? Any thoughts?
Wider seems more stable plus it would make paddlewheel safe?? My dealer advised going inside the chines.

Id think the narrower setup would be closer to the stringer width and support the hull better, but I've never had to worry about putting my boat on a dock

I'd say most of the boats weight will be on the back half. So, the setup which mimics the back of the trailer would be your best option.

I don't have any empirical data to support my claim, but just an educated engineer's guess...

*thumbs up*

Set it up to mimic your trailer bunks. They are set up to give support under the stringers which is the best place.

Unfortunately, the trailer has multiple bunks that only extend about half the boat length.
The most rear located bunks are very wide -outside the step you see along the bottom of the boat when viewed from the transom.
There is a second set of bunks much closer to the midline and found inside the "step" in the bottom of the boat.

Most people only have one long set of bunks on their lift so that's where the debate arises.
So do you go really wide which is about 60" apart or 30 inches from midline or do you go with the inner bunks which puts them about 40" apart or 20" from midline.

I apologize for my lack of proper boat terms chimes etc.
Feel free to educate me.

Measure the width inside the engine compartment between the stringers. Place bunks under those.

Good idea. I will take a look later this week.

Go with the 40" setup in the rear and a 3" taper to the front on each bunk (so roughly 36" apart in front) if your bunks allow that (for example, shoremaster lift/bunks works best with taper like trailer bunks). Adjust the taper so you aren't crossing ribs on the hull.

Nobody needs 2 sets of bunks on a good boat lift and your dealer will always tell you to use the same as the trailer setup without actually understanding there are 2 sets on a trailer. The truth is, 30-40" apart in the back, and 4-8" closer together in the front work awesome for V-hull boats. The flatter tournament ski boats would not need much of a taper to the front.

I am taking delivery of a T22 in a week and wanted to know the same info. Right now I have standard new boat lift, but I am sure it will need some modifications.
