Howdy forum,

I've been lurking this forum for sometime now and I've finally decided to pull the trigger and get an axis. I'm looking at brand new 2014 A22 (Boat comes with bimni, auto wedge, cruise control, custom cover, pnp ballast, drop in cooler, dual battery switch, fixed board racks, depth finder, stereo option package 2 -think they're titan tower speakers with alpine in boat, monsoon 330). MSRP is 87,400 and dealer discount they're offering is 18,200 (includes boat show promo) so that puts it at 62,500. Does this seem on the high end for a new 2014 or reasonable to you? They're also asking 2,680 for extended service warranty - that sound legit? I will be demoing the boat in water later this week. Let me know what y'all think. I've seen a post on here of someone getting a brand new 2014 vandall for mid 50s, so I'm not sure if I'm getting hosed here.

You need to run far away from that dealer at those prices. My 2014 A24 with 409 motor, Sound Pack III (All Wet Sounds), and more options than you listed had an MSRP thousands lower than what your MSRP is plus yours is an A22. Unless you can negociate thousands lower, I'd stay away. I only know of one person that got an A22 with the baby 330 motor. I know with my dealer you'd have to order an Axis with a 330, almost all dealers do the 350.

Low 60s is pretty much on par with what you're being offered, but I'd try and chip them down to 60, even. 2015 offers a brand new hull design, which has a lot of benefits.

I've never heard of a dealer NOT ordering base engine A22's. I've been in a few of them and the base engine does just fine with the correct prop.

The MSRP sounds high, but the sale price is fair. A comparable 2015 model would probably be in the high-60s, so you're saving a bit by going leftover. Not sure why AJWest is telling you to run, there is no dealer in the country that is going to sell a similarly equipped A22 for any less than 60k unless they're desperate, going out of business or you're the owner's best friend.

I would have to factor in region though. There's no way I'd pay $62,500 for a leftover Axis with a 330 (not that it wouldn't do the job unless at high elevation), equipped as it is, and still needing another $2600-ish for extended service. It's just my opinion based on what I know I can get in my area. In the end a "good deal" is any deal you are happy with whether you pay $62,500 or $70,000. How many hours are on this boat?

He stated it's brand new. It doesn't NEED extended service.

Are brand new A22s selling for any less than this in your region?

I'm basing what I know I can deal for, if needed, for a leftover. Also "brand new" boats can still have hours, just depends on what his dealer is calling "brand new" is why I asked. If I'm buying brand new boat I'd expect it to have less than 1 hour on it. True it doesn't "need" extended service but it sounds like he wants extended service.

I forgot to include that the price includes trailer too. Boat is brand new, no hours on engine. I'm pretty darn sure it's the 330 engine. Would yall suggest I not buy the extended service/warranty? Two years is standard with a new axis, correct? Only other dealer nearby would be Texas Ski ranch. I'll call them and ask what their asking for any new left over 2014 inventory.

Take a look at the leftover '14 T22. They surf better and can be purchased for under 60k. Not much under that number though.

Msrp sounds real high but price sounds close. Mine was the Vandall that was 58500 before taxes and fees. Mine is fully loaded with every option and the 350 horsepower engine. I'd still try to haggle on price. One thing to look into if you buy.... My dealer gave me a pamphlet for Boaters Insurance Agency. If you go with them, you get an extended engine warranty for 5 years. I had multiple quotes and their price was very good so I went with them for more peace of mind.

Sounds fishy if the dealer is pushing insurance too. My boat came with a 5 year warranty on the engine and I didn't have to purchase a certain insurance pushed by the dealer. Honestly, my insurance is through Skisafe. From everything I read, they give some of the best rates but you need to make sure to read the fine print to know what is covered and what isn't.
