Hey guys,

I have a 2011 A22 and I want to do a sub under the dash. There is a ton of room uner there, but the steering cable is in the way. What have you guys done about that? Is there any way to move it out of the way? I know they are putting a sub there on the 2012's!

Order the new 2012 sub enclosure. Its about 110 dollars. I got one for mine; however, I have not installed it yet. To install it you pull the old foot board out and put the new one in. You have to dremmel out the circle and mount the sub. Ill take pics of mine when I do it.

I built our box around the cable. I butted the rear of the enclosure up to the cable where it goes into the floor. I also had to notch out the right rear corner of the box where the cable curves. I was able to get a 2.0 cu ft. vented enclosure which should work with a lot of 12" subs out there. Here's a pic, sorry didn't take any pics of just the box.

Is the 2012 one an actual enclosure or just an open panel for a free air sub?

it is for free air walter. I am going to modify it. I mainly ordered it for a nice front panel. Im basically going to form a glass box on the box side of it. Your box is very nice walter.

@ Lakelife- did you have any clearance problems with the black horizontal bar where the steering wheel attaches to? The black bar is just above the cutout for the foot panel/rest.

Wow that box looks really good!! I have a Kicker Solobaric 15 (the square one) and I am trying to figure out how to fit it in there! It fits in the opening, but making a box is going to be tight with that dang cable!

I will take pics of mine when I do it. I design mobile application audio systems for a living. The solobaric sounds like a nice idea. The mtx square sub does not require as much air space to run efficiently. The solo x subs need alot of airspace for a vented enclosure and do not sound good in a free air application. I had a L7 12 I ran on 1000 real watts meaning continuous not max power. I had it in a 2.8 cu. ft. box and it sounded amazing. If you do a sealed box your bass will be a lot tighter however from my opinion but will not pound as hard. You need 3 cu. ft. for a vented 12'' L7. Divide that in half for a sealed application. For a 15'' solobaric L3 model you need 6 cubes for a vented and 3 for a sealed. There is no way you will get more than 2.3 from under the steering wheel.

Any of you know if this steering bar can be taken off to install the sub enclosure?

@nastya20 - I didn't have any clearance problems. I removed the front seat and slid it in. It was an extremely tight fit. If my box had been a 1/4" longer in any direction it wouldn't have fit.
