Hi,

I'm looking into buying a new A20 in the near future ( in Canada ) and now I'm wondering
if I should go for the current model or wait for the new next years models?
Does anyone have information about the pricing for '14/'15 A20 in Canada?

Looking for some pros and cons.

Thanks,

Toby

Buying in about a month until December would be your best bet for the best price, unless you're ordering. Then it doesn't matter too much about the time of year. A20's are nice, just not very much room. How many people are usually boating or would be boating with you? If it's more than 4 total adults (substitute 2 kids for each adult), I'd say spring for a leftover A22 instead.

I don't think there are any changes to the A20 hull for 2015 so that should not be an issue. Interior I have no clue for changes but there's usually some type of improvement. The A20 is not near as common as the A22 and I think in the future might become less common IMO. 20' wakeboats are a dying breed since the popularity of wakesurfing and people just having larger crews in the boat. If you can live with dealer stock for color choices you can probably get a 2014 at a discount. I know my dealer ordered only one, maybe two A20's for 2014. Also my dealer had mentioned that in the last 2-3 years they've gotten stuck with A20's and about 4-5 MXZ20 after the new year models were coming out and they had to sell the 20 footers for almost no profit. If you don't plan on garaging the A20 at your house or don't have lake restrictions, you could probably pick up a leftover 2014 A22 for close to a 2015 A20...just a thought.

Wow, that's interesting. The A20 looked bigger than that. It's usually my girl, 2-4 friends ( or more ) and I.
So about 6+ people on the boat. What do A22's sell for in Canada compared to A20's? Any idea?

I have put 9 people in my a20 comfortably. Now I don't know where you are in Canada but I know that you are probably going to have a hard time finding a 2014 a20. I just know that at my dealership which is 1 of the 3 in Ontario, they didn't order any 2014 a20s and I think it was because they had a couple of 2013s still left over. In the end I think they only order 2 t22s. So unless are willing to cross the border and pick up a 2014 a20, you are probably going to be stuck ordering a 2015 from your local dealer. I would recommend going to the nearest boat show in the winter so that you can get in both an a20 and a22 so that you can see how much room each one has and decide which is best for you

When do carry overs generally bottom out in price?

Just before or right at boat show season. Some dealers actually take leftovers to the show to heavily discount since people are there seriously shopping. There's a Supra/Moomba dealer near me that is notorious for having new leftover stock from 2 years ago and hangs on to them like they're gold judging by their prices still but I know my Malibu/Axis dealer takes a leftover boat or two to the boat show to sell along with current year. This year my dealer sold there last Axis in early July.

They typically will cut prices just right at the end of the season in order to avoid holding on to the boat over the winter. Or I believe that is what my dealer does. October here in tennessee is a good time to start looking for left overs.
