Well I decided to take the wrap off of my boat. It was marked up from the previous owner so it was time. I had to take the rub rail off to get the wrap out from under it. Well when I removed the rub rail.. It looks like they banged into something hard right under the rub rail and THE HULL AND TOP ARE SEPARTATING!!!!! NOW WHAT?? Anybody have this happen? I contacted the dealer I bought it from. The section that is separating is about 3' long. He says I will be ok driving the boat tomorrow without towing..

Unbelievable!!!

Your wrap was one piece? The Vandall wrap on my 2010 are split top and bottom, either way the damage sucks, they'll probably just squirt some more of the goo in the crack. How was the rail attached just out of curiosity?

Yea the wrap was split in 2 but it was too far under the rub rail to get off. This really sucks but I am glad I found it so I can get it fixed. I don't think it will be a major deal to fix.... hopefully

Happened on my 98 Sportster. Dealer took off rub rail and re-applied the adhesive and rivets.

I was curious if anyone else has had their rub rail off...are the rivets still in yours?? I have holes the whole way around but nothing in them..did they take them out?

That sounds suspicious. The way it was explained to me was that the upper and lower hulls have a flange that overlaps. That flange is sealed with adhesive, then rivets are used to add strength to the joint. The rub rail covers the joint/rivets. When mine was taken apart, the rivets were drilled out, but the dealer replaced them after they applied the sealant.
