Wanting to add another board rack to the tower for a wider rack (a surfboard I use doesn't quite fit in the bottom portion of the factory racks)
What have people used that has a larger opening, but still looks similar to the factory rack? I don't need it to swivel like my others, but don't want it to look like some random thing I bolted on either.
A second questions is if people are adding single rack are they adding or port or starboard? Randomly was thinking about where it might get in the way less.

I would put it on the opposite side that you dock on. So I think in most people's cases, the Port side because the boat pulls to the starboard side.

My factory rack is the swivel rack and we have room in the top slot for our surf board. If we had to add a rack and it wasn't a swivel rack I would definitely go to the port side. I would also consider adding it to the top spot and moving the swivel rack to the bottom in case we ever tied up with a lot of boats.

I ground down my factory rack with an angle grinder to get my triple x board to fit, No more rubber on the bottom but I just make sure I get the pad on the bare metal tines - be carfeul if you put the triple x in the rack for a long time it dents in a little - the dents seem to come out if they are not too deep. I'll take a picture tomorrow morning when I get the boat out.
