I am considering a 4th of july trip to PK this weekend. I have never been on this lake. Any tips on boat ramps, lake levels, etc. will be appreciated. Thanks! And where is hells gate located on the lake?

I would strongly recommend not going if it's your first time to that lake, it's nearly 16 feet low and if you aren't familiar with the lake you can get in trouble real easy, it's awesome if it's only 5 feet down but really sketchy at the current level, unless you want to drive out and get me and I'll be your guide for the weekend:)


If you put in by the south side ramp off scenic point road and do not go past the beach you should be ok, stay by the channel markers, ......do not go past the beach or by the island or you will be looking for a prop

I wouldn't go any further northeast than the beach, the water gets real shallow around the island and the cool scenery is from the damn to about 5 miles past Hells gate anyway


I went last year when it was only 11 foot down and there was only 3 ramps open and they had steel grates extending them, very long wait times at the ramps

There is also a public ramp here that you can use to get on the south side of the peninsula

Aren't you in the Waco area? I've never been to either but how are lake limestone or cedar creek? They're both near 100%

Ya. I live in Waco. Im spoiled here to the Brazos river. We are on the river 1 mile from my house every weekend. I rarely go to cedar creek or limestone, but I would assume both are near full with all the recent rain we have had.
