Long story short my local marina refuses to do a monthly slip rental (although they have tons available), and want an arm and a leg for the year.

I have 2 friends up here though with houseboats in the same marina and I am allowed to tie up to the rear of their boats for free.

Anyone do this? I. Really getting tired of trailer in when I'm going out twice a week. Just trying to figure out what the most reliable option might be. I wish I had taken a picture last time I was out but the boat I would use is basically completely flat across the back, although sits a bit high out of water...otherwise I would just use a hull hugger and tie against the rear.

I'm assuming whips? Anyone use them long term or just for day/weekend use?

Thanks!

My friend does that with his Centurion to his houseboat and just uses big fenders. He gets a few scuffs over the season (8 month season in Texas) but buffs them out. Can't imagine getting tired of towing only twice a week. I've been know to go out 4-5 days a week and once 11 days straight (love my 2 weeks on 2 weeks off) and I never get tired knowing I'm going on the water. I couldn't sleep at night knowing my boat was outside and hopefully floating. Marinas are bad for vandals and other pranksters.

How far do you tow?

Not that my drive is very difficult but it's a 65 mile round trip on a windy mountain road. Costs roughly $180 per month in gas alone vs driving my civic which would save significantly.

I agree with the hesitation...but if I can work it out it would just be that much more convenient.

I live 29 miles from the lake but my boat is stored 2 miles from the ramp. Still have to go through the motions as you, hookup, launch, park...walk up big ass hill to trailer, load, unhook, and drive home. Beats being at work though

We moor our boat all summer with whips. When boat is attached to another boat you have to be a bit more diligent in setting up the ropes because of the movement and extra stress created by the house boat.
