Firstly, hello all
ive been reading the forum and its really cool!
I currently have a moomba and I'm based in Dubai, but just finalising the deal on a new 2014 A22
(then got the sell the Moomba quick to pay for it!)
In relation to the prop choice, can anyone advise whats best.
my old boat had a lot of options on it and stuff i never got time to use, so wanting to make sure i get it right and use everything this time
i mainly wakeboard but want to do a lot more wakesurfing as well as pulling my nephews on the inflatable when they come out.
i currently have chosen the high altitude prop 14.25x 14.5 and the engine will be the 350HP Monsoon
i also see a choice for a little more of a ' PROP - 5 Blade Cinco' (means nothing to me!!)

can anyone advise what difference it makes, whether any good? and if suits the boat with the info I have given above

I need to get her ordered now so I can get her here as soon after the real hot months as possible! (then have to worry about paying for her!!)

cheers all and I look forward to being a part of the Axis family!!

Lyndon

Welcome Lyndon.

You have multiple answers to your question depending on how you plan to use the boat. Do you plan to install the plug n play system? If yes, what size ballast bags do you plan to install? It would be best to order the boat with the high altitude prop and then change out the prop with a more aggressive prop like the ACME 2315 or ACME 2313 later on. Answer the ballast bag question and maybe we can help direct you in a better direction.

thanks so much for your help
i am going for plug and play, but as im just an intermediate boarder, but eager to progress, i wanted the facility to make the wake bigger and load it.
i think like you say, stick to the high altitude then review maybe?
im too old and probably not that advanced to worry, so that option should be ok?

ive gone for most options i think so should be a nice boat! cant wait!
ive gone for the saltwater series as the environment is so agressive here in dubai and always running it on the ocean.

any other hints and tips would of course be welcome!

thanks a milliion!

For wakeboarding, the high altitude prop will be good for you until go over 400lbx2 rear bags and 800lbs front bags with stock ballast full and wedge down. With the wedge up, you should be fine with adding more weight with this prop. With this setup, it took me close to 30 seconds to plane. I had to have two people go to the bow to get the tip down. The wake was very nice though.

For surfing, you will want to have at least 600lbx2 rear bags, 950lb front arrow bag, 400lbs on top of bow, full stock ballast, wedge down. This setup may require you to upgrade props to the 2315 or 2313.

im going to sound really think here, but , is the high altitude the best option for me at the moment, or a basic prop?
is it going to cause me more issues than its worth?
or are you saying that for wakesurfing i need that set up anyway?
sorry, new to all this, never really had the decent boat to do it all with, although the moomba was great for wakeboarding with the wakeplate, but a few years old now
i wasnt planning on putting the additional bags in yet, but are you saying I really should as soon as I get her?
being in Dubai, do you think best if I order the bags in from the US or from dealer etc?
Regards
Lyndon

This website gives a good definition of the various props and their weight categories for the Axis brand. I hope it helps.

If be willing to bet you will be fine with the high altitude prop at sea level unless you put the 1100's in and have sacs all over the seat, just the stock tanks and either 400's or 750's you should be fine with the 350 engine, Like dezul said get the high altitude and that will be fine for most of your day to day riding, if you want to sack the hell out of it you may want to get a 2315 for a spare when you feel like getting a little crazy

High altitude should be great. I rode in a friends A22 this weekend. He had 600x2, 950 bow bag and we had 7 people in the boat and it did fine. One of the lids also wakesurfed and all we did was dump a rear bag and moved people to the surf side. Wave wasn't world class but the kid had a blast. Be sure and post some pics up when you get her over there its always cool seeing where people across the globe ride.

cool, thanks, i will do
just seeing the colours on your ride, how do you get on with the black and red? im worried about the black and hot to touch etc when on the boat, i have black at the moment but white at the top on the deck, but in Dubai now, even in May its too hot to stand or touch black, and it gets 15 degress worse than this generally at least! and its 40 today!
nice looking boat, got any pics of the inside?
Regards
Lyndon
