not even going to lie I was ...... but I was also excited to. nothing special just trying to get over the fear of flying over water. got some cool shots. can't wait to get some surf action and maybe wakeboard action when I get comfortable

Cool video. What type of copter is that? Could you not use the waterproof housing with the copter?

its a DJI phantom 2 and the reason you cant use the water proof housing is because I have a gimbal. the gimbal is basically used to keep the camera steady regardless of the pitch/tilt of the quad. I can hard mount the gopro to the quad but then every time the quad tilts and pitches so would the video

When we did the jake owen day the guy dipped his phantom into the lake. I would be scared until I got the hang of it.

What is the cost on that setup? the guy that was with us had a monitor on his radio, gimble etc etc. He told me he was in it for probably 2K?

what cost gets me up and running with one of these flying contraptions? I have an account with GoPro so I have the camera hookup.

phantom2 @ $679, gimbal that I have is 2 axis @$369 they have a new 3 axis one and I think its $489 gopro for non hooked up people is $400 must be 3 or 3+. I am adding the FPV stuff 7" monitor is $200 video transmitter is $95, mini iosd( on screen display) is $69 and plug and play kit is $13.00

they have a new phantom 2 vision plus that that comes with camera and 3 axis gimbal for like $1400 that sends video to you cell phone more geared towards novice and beginners

phantoms are super easy to fly with gps assistance and return to home features ... my mom (64) flew it with easy. I have two phantom 1v1.1 and a phantom 2 the original phantom im going to set up with goggles for an immersive flight experience. purchase/info from below

I've been trying that for 3 years now! First with a align 700e I have no RC background btw took me a whole year to build it, tune it, and learn the electronics of it (the hard way) never could master the "head in" that's flying the chopper at you, plenty of videos of me dunking it in the pond here tho. Fast fwd -I got my phantom February 1st did a couple videos over the ice. W snowmobiles 4 th flight the esc was giving me issues sent it back they warrented it just cost me 15 to ship it. Great people they help you! No one cared about me or the heli :lol:

Btw that guy that dunked his I assume operator error always is :roll:

Id bet you didnt take off from the transom? I also wanted to know if it was possible to do that? I'd bet the drone would do that annoying front tip?always happened to me unless its perfectly flat. and I cant find any video of it talking off from a boat landing is easy!
